Tour to Visit The Waterfalls of Presidente Figueiredo

The newest municipality in the Amazon, founded in 1981 during the construction of the highway BR 174, leading Manaus to Roraima and Venezuela, The small town of Figueiredo is being considered with a nice tourism`s potential due to hundreds of waterfalls, rapids and caves spread in a 100% virgin jungle area.
Presidente figueiredo in the last years has becoming a new destination for those looking extreme sports experiences, the natural geography shows an amazing place to do this kinds of activities, to reach up the city you can take bus at the passengers terminal in Manaus, the buses leaves Manaus everyday to Presidente Figueiredo or if you prefer there`s a possibility to do a tour day to Figueiredo and visiting some of many waterfalls, in these tours you will have lunch included and tickets to visit the main falls of that area.
The Urubui rapids, located in the middle of the city, urubui is the best place if you are looking to stay with your family with shallow waters and surrounded by bars and restaurants, the entrance in this fall is free.
The Santuario Falls, also owned by private initiative, is considered a natural paradise because of the highest falls founded in that place, the reserve also offers nice jungle path, you can visit the jungle and keep natural contact with the nature and if you prefer you can overnight in a small hotel located on the beginning of this beautiful reserve, to visit Sanctuary you will pay R$ 5,00 per person and the place is open every day until 4:00 pm.
The Onça Falls, located 1km from the urban area of Presidente Figueiredo, is another beautiful place offering untouched jungle and nice water rapids, in this place you can enjoy a nice jungle walk to observe the rest of the waterfalls that goes for more or less 2km into the jungle ending in a beautiful waterfall called Onça, the tickets costs R$ 5,00 per person.
The Asframa Falls, located in the entrance of Presidente Figueiredo, this waterfalls is a nice family place offering very good places to rest and restaurants, this place is very crowded during the weekends when many people leave Manaus to spend sometime there, the price to visit is R$ 5,00 per person.
The Maruaga`s Cave and Judeia Waterfalls, to visit this place you will need a help of the local tour guides, this place is used mostly by researchers who is keeping this area less visit as possible because of the environmental importance, at Maroaga is possible to see a beautiful cave formed by sand stones and in this place you will see a endemic wildlife with insects and bats living inside of the cave, the area around is surrounded by water and typical stone formed a million of years ago.
The Orchid Falls, located in the middle of the city this one has an easy access, you can go by car and park straight there but to reach up this falls you may need to walk something like 40 minutes to see the beauty of this place, the entrance in this one is free it belongs to the municipal park called Orchid`s Paradise.
Description of this tour
9:00 a.m. Pick up the travellers`place, meet the tour guide and embarkation, depending on the number of people can be used cars, van or mini buses.
The trip to waterfalls land will be through the BR 174, the road which joins Manaus to Roraima state and then Venezuela, the trip will take between 1:30h to 2:00h, during the tour you will have a full time assistance of a English speaking tour guide who will keep you informed about the tour.
11:00 a.m. arrival at the city we will do a short city tour to see and know how the people survive and the city looks like, after we will head to Santuario Falls, a nice area where you will walk in the forest to reach up this beautiful place, so you will have some time to enjoy this place, having a bath or just taking pictures.
Around 12:30 p.m.is time to visit Urubui Rapids, this is the most visited place in the city due its easy access, in this place the lunch will be served in a typical restaurant (lunch included, except the drinks), you may choose the fish that in this restaurant is very delicious.
After lunch visit Asframa Falls another beautiful place with many falls and nice areas to swim and rest.
At 3:30 p.m. we will leave the waterfalls land and will start the trip back Manaus, arriving in the city at 5:30 p.m.
The waterfalls pictures showed here were taken during the wet season, when rains everyday in the Amazon, the level of the falls may change according to the seasons, sometime the water is less in this place.
Children Conditions
Children from 0 to 6 years old free
Children from 7 to 10 years old half of the price.
Cancellations must be advised at least one day before the tour starts otherwise will be charged 50% of the all amount.
Included in the tour: Transportation with air conditioned system car, van or bus, depending on the number of passengers, lunch in a self service system, English speaking tour guide, in case of other languages check availability, visit the mentioned waterfalls: Asframa, Urubui rapids and Santuario Falls with entrances included and mineral water on the car.

What to bring Along: swimming suits, towels, sun glasses, sun block, hats or caps, to use shorts and light t-shirts, sandals, mosquitoes repellent and some money.

We go to an area close to Manaus to climb a 120ft. tree that?s in the same family as mahogany. It is a 3-4 hour excursion. Includes the tree climbing, insurance, and transport

OPTION 2 ? Half day climb to view the meeting of the waters
We go to an area close to Manaus to climb an amazing Samauma tree. There we have a beautiful view from above of the the meeting of the waters of Solimões and Negro river to form the Amazon river. It?s a 4 to 5 hours program. This tour includes the tree climbing, insurance, water and transport.
PRICE PER PERSON R$ 240,00. MINIMUM OF TWO PASSENGERS TO CONFIRM THE TOUR.
OPTION 3 ? Full day climb + indigenous community ritual
We go by speed boat to the Tupé area, where we climb an Amapá tree with a beautiful view of the Negro river. After the climb we visit a community of indigenous to see some of their rituals, dances and costumes. At the end we stop at a white sand beach for swim. It?s a 5-6 hour program. This tour includes the tree climbing, insurance, indigenous ritual, water, snacks and transport.

OPTION 4 ? Full day climb + Presidente Figueiredo waterfalls
We go to Presidente Figueiredo, the city of the waterfalls. We?ll climb an Angelim tree, and after climbing we?ll go for a swim in the waterfalls. It?s a 8-10 hour program. It includes the tree climbing, snacks up in the tree, water, waterfall entrance, insurance and transport.

OPTION 5 ? Full day climb - Samaúma at a flooded forest
We?ll leave Manaus on a speed boat heading north on the Negro river. After one hour and 10 minutes, we arrive at a beautiful Samaúma, the largest and tallest tree in the Amazon. On the way back we stop for a swim at one of Negro?s river white sand beaches. It?s a 8-10 hour program. Includes the tree climbing, water, insurance, transport and snacks up in the tree.

Tour Piranhas Fishing and Alligator Spotting

A half day tour prepared for those with short time in Manaus, in this option we offer an unforgettable experience in the Amazon jungle, by boat we will explore the Janauary ecological park, its tributaries, its jungle and its beauty.
Our Tour begins in the afternoon, around 2:30 p.m. we pick up our tourists at their place by car and transport them until our speedboat, the boat can leave from different ports in Manaus, it depends on the tourists location in Manaus.
The tourists will meet the local tour guide who will assist them during the tour, after the embarkation, the tourists go to a park located 40 minutes from Manaus, this is called Janauary, a wonderful lake in the middle of the jungle, the boat rides takes 30 minutes, as soon the tourists get there, they will disembark in a floating house and walk over bridges to see the famous giant lilies, sometimes in this place is possible to observe the monkeys as well.
After the observation, embark again and search for a good place in the lake to fishing for the feared piranhas, the tour guide will be with the tourists to help them with the piranhas, fos this fishing we will use bamboo pools and small pieces of cow beef, this is not a professional fishing with all the fishing gear, this is more simple.
After the fishing we will go to the middle of the lake to enjoy a wondeful sunset, if the nature give it to us and as soon the night falls, we will prepar our flashlights to search for the alligators.
Normally in this tour we just observe the animals, but if the tourists want, we can catch one to explain it better and then we will release it in the same place.
After the alligator tour we come back to Manaus and we will drop the tourists at their hotel by car or van, depending on the size of the group.
Included in this tour: transportation, speedboat, english speaking tour guide, cooler with mineral water.
Not included: alcoholic drinks, personnel expenses.
Tour is indicated for all ages able to do this.
People with physical limitation may have problems to embark and desimbark on the speedboat

Swimming with Pink Dolphin - Half day Tour

Come and enjoy this wonderful tour, in a half day tour you will swim and play with the Amazon pink dolphins, this tour was specially planned for those who wants to see and swim with these legendary animals.
Description
Pick up at the tourists place at 8:30 am, by car we will drive until Ubim lake, the trip takes 1h, as soon we get there there will be a person waiting for us to take us to the floating platform where we will do the dolphins activity, before the tourists go under water, some rules will be explained, things you can do, things you can not, and after the explanation you will swim and touch the fresh water dolphins, the activity takes about 40 minutes, this is the time that the biologists gave to enjoy the dolphins, in case the tourists stay any longer can be dangerous for the dolphins they can get stressed and not come back anymore.
In this place you can swim and take pictures of the dolphins, in this place there are about 10 dolphins and they live free in the river, there`s no fancies or cages keeping the animals in the area.
After the swimming, there will be some time free to buy souvenirs and enjoy the place, after that we will go for lunch, the meal will be served in a native people house, we always order fish on barbecue, which is also a tradition in the Amazon eat fish, the lunch in included in this tour, after lunch the speed boat will pick us up and takes back to the car and then we will drive back to Manaus, ending the tour around 2:00 pm, we will drop the tourist off at their hotels in Manaus.
Included in this tour: Private car, private English speaking tour guide, speedboat to go and to come back to floating house, where the dolphins are, taxes to swim with the dolphins, 2 bottles of mineral water per person and lunch served in the native house.
Not Included: drinks, tips, personnel expenses, and other items not mentioned here.

Meeting of the Waters + Piranha Fishing and Alligator Spotting

Full day tour by speedboat with the aim to explore and show the beauty and magic of the Amazon region.
Pick up at 9:30 am at the lobby of your hotel in Manaus, transportation by car with air conditioned system until the pier where the tourists will embark on the speedboat, the boat used is a fast boat, capacity 12 people, covered and equipped with a 115hp motor.
We start the tour navigating on the Negro river, you will see different areas of Manaus from the river, like the river boat yards, the Rio Negro bridge, the houses on stilts, typical constructions in the Amazon region, manaus downtown, the public port with hundreds of boats, the Manaus fish market and also the industrial area.
Arrival at the Meeting of the Waters, explanation about this interesting phenomenon, sometime for pictures and after continuation of the tour.
We also explore a tributary of the Amazon river called Xiborena, this is one of the best places to observe the local fauna and flora, navigation on the Solimões river until we arrive at Janauary Ecological Park, this is the newest ecological reserve ever found in the Amazon, it was opened in 2002.
Stop in a floating restaurant located in the middle of the river, break for lunch, the lunch is included in this tour, usually the lunch is served in regional style with fish ans other amazon dishes.
After lunch we will walk over wooden bridges built in the middle of the forest to observe the Amazon Giant Lilies, a short brief about these wonderful plants that grows only in the muddy waters system.
Embarkation on the speedboat, navigation inside the lake to see the wildlife and if its possible pass through the flooded forest, search for a good place to fishing for the feared piranhas and after when the sun comes down, enjoy a wondeful sunset.
And when the night comes, we will look for the amazonian alligators, this tour does not intend to catch the animals just to observe them in their natural habitat, but if the tourists want we may catch one to show better the animals anatomy and then be released back in the same place.
After the observation we will come back to Manaus there will be a car waiting for you when you arriva in the city to take you back to your hotel.
End of the Tour.
There are some periods of the year, for example from September to February the tour will be shorter due the levels of the river, we may change the program and also the duration of this tour.
The best period to do this activity is from february to ends of August.
Included in this tour: transfer to and from the boat to the hotel in Manaus, private speedboat, covered, with capacity for 12 passengers, lunch served in buffet style, english speaking tour guide and cooler with mineral water.
What`s not included: alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, personnel expenses.

Tour Flights Over Manaus with Hidroplane

Take off from Tropical hotel`s pier, flight above the forest to have an idea how large is the area, visit the Archipelago called Anavilhanas, this is the longest and the largest fresh water archipelago in the world with more or less 400 islands together, flight above some jungle lodges, flight above flooded jungle and then return to Tropical hotel to landing in the same place.

The tour starts at 8:30 am, we will pick you up at your hotel, by car we will drive through the highway that joins Manaus to Venezuela, BR-174, the trip takes about 2h by car, arriving in Presidente Figueiredo, a small town located north of Manaus, we will meet another native tour guide who will join us in this adventure, around 11:00 a.m. we will start the jungle walk at Maruaga forest, the walking takes 2h, during the walking there will a chance to learn more about this kind of environment that surrounds the place, the first place to visit is a nice cave located inside of the forest, it has the same name Maruaga, actually this name comes from an indian warrior, who lived in this same place and he tried to avoid the men progress and the highway`s construction, the same that joins Manaus to Presidente Figueiredo, Roraima and Venezuela.
As soon we arrive in this cave the native tour guide will lead us inside of the cave for some meters after the visitation there will be some free time to enjoy the water that fall from this cave and you may take some pictures.
Continuing the walking through the forest, now the tourists will walk inside the water, is not a deep canal but the water is very transparent, you can see the sand in its botton.
Arriving at Judeia falls, you can swim and explore the caves that surrounds the fall, after the visitation in this place, we will walk back to the car and we will go to the city for lunch, the lunch is included in this tour and usually is served by local fish which is very good, you can also take a look in the city`s main rapid called Urubui.
After the lunch we will visit Iracema Waterfalls, another beautiful complex with waterfalls and caves, some walking in the area to know the rock formations and then after 1h we will prepar to come back to Manaus, we always expect to arrive in the city around 5:00 but if the wheather changes we may get back later, we will drop off the tourists in their place.

SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Manaus is the largest urban area on the Amazon. It is also the most important Amazonian port and the capital of the state of Amazonas. With almost 2 million people, it cannot be called a city by Brazilian standards (two million people are required for that designation), but it bustles like a major metropolis.
The city is one more surprising sight on an Amazon cruise of many surprises, standing as it does in the middle of the Amazon, surrounded by rivers and rain forests. It lies at the critical juncture of the Rio Negro and the Solimões Rivers, the two together forms the famous Amazon river and it serves as the port for the entire region.
The town has quite a history. It was a small river village during the 1600's, populated mainly by indigenous people. Around 1669, because of its strategic presence on two major rivers, Portugal established a small fort in the town. Manaus grew steadily, increasing in importance as a port and, in 1850, it was named the capital of the Amazonas state.
But toward the end of the 19th century, fortune smiled. Rubber trees grow throughout the region (and at that time, only in the region), and with the introduction of rubber vulcanization for use in the growing automobile industry, the city prospered along with the rubber barons who settled there. Much of the significant infrastructure in the town (such as the Opera House) was built by wealthy families who tried to convert the town into the Paris of the tropics, unfortunately, an Englishman smuggled some rubber seeds out of the country, successfully transplanted trees to Malaysia, and the monopoly ended.
The invention of synthetic rubber in the 1920's completely finished off the rubber industry and the high times in Manaus were over. Recently, Manaus has again emerged as an important commercial center. It continues to be the main port serving the Amazon region; it is also a duty-free zone and the center for travel into the Amazon.
Manaus is a mix of crowded residential areas, bustling markets, office buildings, banks and traffic-filled streets. The town begins at the river's edge and extends outward and upward in a melange of curving streets, narrow alleys and mysterious walkways.
Language: The official language is Brazilian Portuguese. Although not many residents speak English, the attendants in most attractions do. There always seems to be someone nearby in the markets to translate as needed.
Currency; Best Way to Get Money The real (or reais). ATM's are usually found in bank lobbies, especially along the center of Manaus; there are none in the market areas. Many ATM's take only cards with credit card logos, unless you plan on spending a lot of cash in restaurants or shops, you can survive with a small supply of U.S. currency.
Most Cultural sights take both reals and dollars. And even in the markets, someone is always eager to exchange dollars for the local currency. Best Souvenir It is hard to avoid the interesting and inexpensive variety of handicrafts in markets throughout the city, everything from exotic carvings to handmade jewelry, the most authentic items are blowguns in a variety of sizes and designs, and medicinal oils from regional plants.
Where You're Docked: Ships dock at the Porto Flutuante (floating docks), an ingenious structure that rises and falls with the greatly fluctuating river level. A stone retaining wall at the end of the bridge from the dock indicates the high water marks from 1902, when it was built. The town begins at the docks.
Check out the number and sizes of riverboats that are docked with your ship; Manaus is the market center for the entire Amazon region, and river dwellers travel up to five days to buy supplies there. Hanging Around The dock is connected to the shore by a covered bridge, and then a new, high-end (and delightfully air-conditioned) shopping center and other upscale retailers are well represented; there's also a bar and an Internet/phone center. But a quick exit brings passengers immediately onto the streets of the city.
Getting Around All of the main sights are within walking distance of the dock.
Watch Out For The heat and humidity. The city has no real differentiation between seasons; it is either rainy season or not, but it is always hot and humid. Also, Manaus is on a hill, so walking anywhere means walking uphill. Wear loose clothing (shorts and T-shirts are fine) and a hat, use sunscreen liberally, drink lots of your own bottled water, and take occasional breaks from walking. And a related warning: Cultural buildings are either not air-conditioned or only minimally so.
Don't Miss
The Teatro Amazonas, or Opera House (Praca Sao Sebastiao, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily except Sunday, U$7,00 for guided tour only in English -- no independent entry) is a spectacular monument to what money and serious taste can do. Built at the peak of the city's rubber boom, it offers what was then the finest in European craftsmanship. The lobby, opera house and upstairs ballroom are filled with Murano chandeliers. The seats, individual armchairs made from the local jacaranda wood and polished to a gleam, date from the opera house's opening but have, of course, been reupholstered. The opera house floor is laid with the same wood used in La Scala, and the ballroom floor is composed of 12,000 pieces of rain forest woods laid without glue or nails. Outside balconies are of Portuguese stone, the doors are Parisian originals, and the painted curtain is from Tiffany's. The unique dome was constructed so that the spectacular curtain could be raised and lowered without folding or rolling it. The theater ceiling was painted in Paris and reassembled in Manaus. It depicts what it is like to stand looking up at the Eiffel Tower. Be sure to check out the vents under alternate rows of seats to see what passed for air-conditioning in 1896. When outside, look for a few of the surviving rubber-coated bricks in the driveways (to muffle the sounds of approaching carriages).
The St Sebastians public square in front of the building contains statuary from mythology and a huge fountain built to represent Manaus' trade with all four corners of the world.
Museu do Indio (Rua Duque de Caxias 356, , 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Monday - Saturday and 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, U$ 5,00) is a rather nondescript building run by an order of Catholic nuns called the Salesian Sisters. In their museum, they feature artifacts of the social and cultural structure of the native people of the region. The exhibits are contained in six separate rooms, and include displays of clothing, jewelry, ceramics, shelters, woven mats and baskets, costumes and ritual masks, musical instruments, funeral items, and a display of early-20th-century medical instruments. There are no guides; the labels and signs are in Portuguese; and there is no air-conditioning in the building. Nevertheless, it is a good place to get a glimpse of what life for natives of the region was like.
Catedral da Nossa Senhora da Conceicao, or Cathedral of Our Lady (Praca da Matriz, daily during daylight hours, free) was originally built in 1695, and rebuilt in 1878 after being destroyed in a fire. It is a very simple building, with little major art -- in stark contrast to most European cathedrals. The glass is in primary colors, and creates a bright and colorful palette inside. The building stands on a slight rise, with sweeping stairs rising to the entrance. Below is the church square, which is usually surrounded by vendors and their wares.
Mercado Adolfo Lisboa (Rua dos Bares, dawn until about midday, free) is the main market of Manaus. The building, a wrought-iron and brick structure, replicates the original Les Halles market in Paris. Now it is filled with vendors of all types selling meat, many varieties of local fish, produce, spices, trinkets, clothing, medicinal oils, and snacks of all kinds. The meat and seafood area is particularly interesting, with lots of unusual offerings, but the lack of air-conditioning or refrigeration will probably limit the amount of time one might spend in this section.
Mini-Zoo do CIGS (Estrada do Sao Jorge 750, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday - Friday and 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, U$5,00) is the city zoo and lies a short cab ride from the city center. This is a strange institution it adjoins a military base, and many of the animals were captured by the troops while on maneuvers. Visitors should be warned that this is neither a rich city nor a rich country, and the zoo is certainly not up to U.S. standards. Many cages are small and cement-lined, and the animals are lethargic. That said, it is probably the only chance visitors will have to see native jaguars, birds and snakes up close. The grounds are well shaded and pathways are wide. Signs are in English.
Encontro das Aguas (Meeting of the Waters) occurs where the black water (clear with a rather high acidity) of the Rio Negro meets the white water (murky with mud and a more neutral acidity) of the Solimoes about four miles downstream from Manaus, forming the Amazon. The waters flow side by side in parallel stripes for miles before finally merging, becoming a brown river that flows to the sea. The rivers do not mix more quickly because of the differences in water temperature and river flow rates. It is a phenomenon unique to the region and one that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your ship.
Shopping: The main areas for vendor activity are the Mercado Adolfo Lisboa, Rua Marcilio Dias, Rua Marechal Deodoro and the streets surrounding the cathedral. All except the Mercado are outdoors along busy streets. Be prepared to bargain.
Manaus is a free-trade zone, and the area a few blocks off the waterfront is full of electronics shops. Prices in Manaus are lower than in other cities in Brazil, but not necessarily below those available at home or through the Internet. Be informed before you buy and carry. Been There, Done That Manaus is a center for rain forest and river excursions, nighttime trips in the forests, and more exotic overnight and longer treks further into the wilds.

DICAS PARA UMA VIAGEM TRANQUILA
1. Respeite a cultura e a diversidade local. As atividades turísticas devem ser praticadas com respeito pelo patrimônio artístico, arqueológico e cultural.
2. Respeite os direitos humanos. Informe-se sobre os hábitos e a legislação do país visitado, para não cometer nenhuma infração ou desrespeito aos cidadãos. Apoie a economia local adquirindo serviços, produtos e artesanato.
3. Colabore com a preservação ambiental. Respeitar a flora e a fauna é manter o local intacto, preservando suas condições naturais, causando o menor impacto possível à natureza.
4. Antes de sair de viagem, informe-se sobre o local que você vai visitar: a situação sanitária, condições climáticas, e no caso de turismo internacional, verifique também, os serviços consulares, policiais, hospitalares e de emergência.

Não alimente os animais. Em seu habitat natural ele encontra toda a dieta necessária. Acampe em silêncio, preservando a tranquilidade e a sensação de harmonia que a natureza favorece. Respeite a natureza: não faça fogueiras, nem use sabão, sabonete, xampu, bronzeadores ou detergente, em rios e cachoeiras.
Praia
Se o seu destino é praia, informe-se antes se o local é próprio para mergulho e se conta com guardas salva-vidas. Ao caminhar pela praia, cuidado para não pisar em animais aquáticos, como caravela, águas-viva, ouriços, arraia, etc. Respeite a sinalização: bandeiras vermelhas ou amarelas indicam mar revolto, portanto, evite entrar na água. Se for pescar, é necessário que tenha a licença de pesca amadora, que pode ser retirada no site do Ministério da Pesca e Agricultura. Não pesque em áreas proibidas e respeite o defeso ? período de proibição da pesca das espécies protegidas -, bem como o tamanho e a quantidade limite para a pesca. Peixes abaixo do tamanho mínimo devem ser devolvidos para a água.
Esportes
Nunca pule com o barco em movimento: é perigoso. Caso queira entrar na água, faça-o com o barco parado, informando-se primeiro sobre as condições da água, animais marinhos e a profundidade do local. Faça sempre uso de colete salva-vidas. Sempre que realizar o ecoturismo, seja uma atividade de aventura, pesca, caminhada, escalada, passeio de buggy, de banana boat, barco, lancha, verifique as condições de uso dos equipamentos e conte sempre com profissionais capacitados.
Animais Silvestres
Se durante a sua viagem, você encontrar alguém vendendo um animal silvestre primeiro, não compre; depois, denuncie às autoridades. Se for em feira livre ou depósito de tráfico, denuncie e forneça o maior número de informações possíveis. Os dados do denunciante sempre serão preservados. Deve-se passar as informações com maior clareza possível, como o local, data, hora, circunstância etc. Se for na beira da estrada, não compre e ainda repreenda o vendedor dizendo que isso é ilegal e que se ele for flagrado pode, além de perder o animal, sofrer as sanções legais. O IBAMA tem uma Acordo de Cooperação com a RENCTAS-Rede Nacional contra o Tráfico de Animais Silvestres que possui uma página específica na internet sobre o tráfico de animais silvestres Renctas.
Os documentos necessários para transportar animais silvestres legalmente são: Licença de transporte emitida pelo IBAMA; documento de origem do animal ou o termo de depósito do IBAMA; Guia de Trânsito Animal (GTA) do Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, quando se tratar de transporte interestadual, que pode ser emitida por um veterinário autorizado pelo Ministério.
Cuidados com a sua saúde
Comunique ao seu agente de viagens se você tem alergia a alimentos, problemas cardíacos, necessidades especiais ou qualquer restrição que exija cuidados especiais durante a viagem. Informe também a medicação e o telefone de uma pessoa para contato em caso de emergência.
Se você tiver algum problema de saúde e, durante a viagem, quiser realizar atividade física que exija esforço físico ou tenha algum grau de dificuldade, consulte antes o seu médico e procure saber se tem condições de realizá-lo. Se possível atualize a sua carteira de vacinação.
Irradiação Solar
Não se exponha demais ao sol e escolha os horários mais adequados. Os raios ultravioletas são prejudiciais à saúde e a superexposição pode causar câncer de pele. Use o protetor solar adequado ao seu caso e faça novas aplicações, conforme as orientações do fabricante.
Cuidado com a desidratação! Beba bastante líquido e utilize roupas leves e arejadas. Óculos de sol e chapéu de abas largas também são recomendados, principalmente para as pessoas da terceira idade, devido a pele mais sensível.
Doenças
Consulte seu médico ou a agência de viagens e se informe sobre a necessidade de tomar alguma vacina contra doenças do local de destino, seja viagem nacional ou internacional. No caso de viagens ao exterior, confira a situação sanitária do país e a necessidade de tirar o Certificado Internacional de Vacinação ou Profilaxia (CIVP).
Se o destino turístico estiver localizado em áreas onde tenha doenças transmitidas por mosquitos, como a malária ou dengue, dê preferência por meios de hospedagem que tenham janelas e portas com telas de proteção e cortinas.
Proteja-se das picadas de insetos, aplicando repelentes à base de dietiltoluamida (DEET) nas áreas expostas da pele e, sempre que possível, utilize roupas confortáveis e adequadas ao local.
Lave bem as mãos com água e sabão neutro depois de utilizar transportes públicos ou transitar por locais públicos, após usar o banheiro, antes das refeições ou de ingerir alimentos e, principalmente, depois de tossir ou espirrar.
Seja cuidadoso e utilize preservativos em todas as relações sexuais, assim você diminui o risco de doenças sexualmente transmissíveis (DST), como por exemplo, HIV/AIDS, Sífilis e Hepatite B.
Prevenção de Acidentes
Não caminhe com os pés descalços em áreas de terra nua, matas ou plantações. Use sempre calças e botas de cano longo ou bota com perneira, que protegem até o joelho.
Nesses locais, habitue-se a bater o calçado com a boca virada para baixo, antes de calçá-lo, para retirar eventuais animais peçonhentos, que costumam se esconder dentro dos calçados.
Nos balneários, também evite andar descalço, principalmente se tiver algum ferimento no pé; nem coloque as mãos em buracos, que podem ser abrigo de pequenos animais, como ratos e cobras.
Nunca pegue peixes, animais ou plantas desconhecidas, por mais inofensivos que pareçam e cuidado ao sentar, se apoiar ou manusear rochas e árvores em trilhas ou caminhadas.
Segurança é outro ponto importante. Não ande em horários e áreas desabitadas ou evitadas pela população. Mantenha-se sempre próximo ao grupo de turistas nas viagens. Caso precise se afastar do grupo, faça-o sempre em breves intervalos, informando sempre o guia de turismo.
Doenças Transmitidas Por Vetores
Um número elevado de infecções e doenças, como a malária, a febre amarela, a doença de chagas e a dengue, são transmitido por insetos e outros vetores em vários destinos turísticos do país. Portanto, para preservar a sua saúde, é importante que você redobre atenção e siga as seguintes orientações.
Consulte a secretaria municipal ou estadual de saúde, sobre a existência de doenças na região para a qual você vai viajar, como meningite, por exemplo, e o período de espera entre a vacina e o embarque. No caso da febre amarela, por exemplo, você deve se vacinar, pelo menos, 10 dias antes da viagem.
Mantenha a carteira de vacinação em dia. Na dúvida consulte seu médico. Verifique também a carteira de vacinação das crianças, conferindo-a com o calendário do Programa Nacional de Imunização do Ministério da Saúde, disponível no site do Ministério da Saúde
Se você fez a opção por pacotes de ecoturismo ou a prática de esportes aquáticos, informe-se nas secretarias municipais, se há a existência de rios, lagoas e açudes que apresentam risco de transmissão de esquistossomose. O turista deve observar se existem caramujos no local, que uma vez infectados, podem transmitir a esquistossomose.
No caso de turismo em cavernas é recomendável que o turista verifique se o local está aberto para a visitação. As cavernas devem obedecer a um Plano de Manejo Espeleológico que define as condições de acesso, tráfego de pessoas e critérios de visitação. Respeite as orientações dos guias locais e, sempre que possível, use máscaras de proteção.
No caso de acampamento, dê preferência a locais regulamentados. No caso de trilhas ou caminhadas na mata, use roupas claras para facilitar a localização, camisa de manga longa, sapatos fechados, chapéu, repelente e protetor solar. Monte a barraca longe de roedores e evite o acúmulo de lixo, para não atrair pragas e animais.
Nunca deite diretamente no solo, nem coloque os alimentos no chão, pois a hantavirose, tipo de doença pulmonar, é transmitida respirando partículas virais de ratos silvestres presentes no chão. Não coma frutos desconhecidos ou encontrados no chão, pois podem ser venenosos.
Alimentos e resíduos devem ser mantidos em recipientes fechados e à prova de ratos. Nunca deixe o alimento em contato direto com o solo, nem deite diretamente no chão. A transmissão de hantavirose acontece pela inalação de partículas virais presentes no solo. O mesmo é válido para alimentos ou frutos encontrados no chão.
Procure levar alimentos naturais ou industrializados, prontos para consumo e que possam ficar fora da geladeira. Não deixe que restos de comida, inclusive de animais, e outros produtos ricos em matérias orgânicas cheguem até as águas, pois servem de alimentos para os caramujos.
Leve sacos plásticos para a coleta do lixo nos passeios e nunca deposite fezes próximo a lagoas e rios para não contaminar a água. Se não houver instalações sanitárias no local, procurar locais distantes, cobrindo as fezes com a terra para evitar propagação de vetores.
Os principais riscos são: febre amarela e arboviroses transmitidas por mosquitos, hantavirose, esquistossomose, febre maculosa, raiva, leishmaniose, malária, encefalite, doença de Chagas, doenças cardiovasculares, diabetes, gripe, dengue, histoplasmose, animais peçonhentos além de outras doenças transmitidas pela água e alimentos.
Doenças Transmitidas por Animais
No caso de contato por mordida ou arranhão de mamíferos, por exemplo, como cães, gatos, morcegos, lave o local com água corrente e sabão, e procure imediatamente atendimento médico e aplicação da vacina e soro antirrábico.
No Brasil acidentes com animais peçonhentos, como escorpiões, serpentes, aranhas são comuns. Nestes casos, não faça procedimentos caseiros e leve a vítima imediatamente ao serviço de saúde mais próximo.
Doenças Transmitidas Por Água E Alimentos
O consumo de água mineral industrializada é a opção mais segura, mas, se não houver água tratada no local visitado, ferva a quantidade necessária, por pelo menos, um minuto. Se não for possível a fervura, deve-se considerar o uso de agentes desinfetantes, por exemplo, o hipoclorito de sódio a 2,5%, colocando duas gotas em um litro de água durante 30 minutos.
No caso de alimentos vendidos por ambulantes, bufês, mercados e restaurantes, os produtos que exigem refrigeração, devem estar abaixo de 5º C, e os quentes, acima de 60º C. O mesmo é válido para frutas e verduras: não devem ser consumidas se não estiverem integras, sendo lavadas em água corrente antes do consumo.
Sempre que possível, evite o consumo de carnes de animais exóticos ou mal conservadas, como jacaré, avestruz e javali e evite também, alimentos vendidos por ambulantes, como água, gelo, sorvetes e sucos, alimentos crus, ovos, leite e derivados de origem duvidosa e não pasteurizados.
Não beba a água de rios, riachos, lagos e cachoeiras ou outras fontes naturais, pois pode haver contaminação biológica ou química, como fezes de animais e outras substâncias. Leve sempre consigo água para consumo e no caso de produtos locais, dê preferência a itens industrializados que contenham, no mínimo, identificação do produtor e data de validade.
Viagem Internacional
Em viagens internacionais, providencie o passaporte com antecedência. O documento poderá ser emitido pela Polícia Federal. Maiores informações podem ser obtidas pelo telefone: 0800 978 2336 e pelo site da Polícia Federal.
Caso você já possua passaporte, verifique a sua validade. Antes de embarcar, procure tirar uma cópia do passaporte e do visto, para o caso de perda ou extravio dos documentos.
A cédula de identidade também é válida, mas, apenas para ingresso de brasileiros na Argentina, Bolívia, Chile, Colômbia, Equador, Paraguai, Uruguai, Venezuela. A identidade deve ter foto atual e ter sido expedida nos últimos 10 anos. Carteiras de habilitação ou outros documentos não são aceitos.

ABOUT AMAZON STATE AND ITS RAINFOREST
The Amazon rainforest, also known as Amazonia, is one of the world's greatest natural resources. Because its vegetation continuously recycles carbon dioxide into oxygen, it has been described as the "Lungs of our Planet". About 20% of earth's oxygen is produced by the Amazon rainforest.
The Amazon rainforest gets its name from the Amazon River, the life force of the rainforest. The Amazon River begins in the Peruvian Andes, and winds its way east over the northern half of South America. It meets the Atlantic Ocean at Belem, Brazil. The main river is about 4,080 miles long. Its drainage basin covers 2,722,000 million square miles, and lies in the countries of Brazil, Columbia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and the three Guyanas. Sixteen percent of all the world's river water flows through the Amazon delta. Twenty eight billion gallons of water flow into the Atlantic every minute, diluting the salinity of the ocean for more than 100 miles offshore. The Amazon rainforest watershed is home to the world's highest level of biodiversity.
Amazonia receives about 9 feet of rain every year. Fifty percent of this returns to the atmosphere through the foliage of trees. Most of the Amazon River's water comes from the annual snowmelt high in the Peruvian Andes. Between June and October, the water level rises by 30 to 45 feet. Tens of millions of acres of rainforest are covered by water as the flood advances, reaching as far inland from the main channel as 12 miles.
Some 15 million years ago, the Amazon River flowed westward into the Pacific Ocean. When the South American plate moved into another tectonic plate, the Andes Mountains slowly rose up and blocked the flow of the river. As the river system backed up, freshwater lakes were formed, and the environment of the Amazon basin changed drastically. Then about 10 million years ago the river found its way eastward towards the Atlantic.
The Amazon rainforest is the drainage basin for the Amazon River and its many tributaries. The northern half of the South American continent is shaped like a shallow dish. About 1,100 tributaries, seventeen of which are over 1,000 miles long, drain into this depression. Whenever rain falls in the river basin, it all drains into Amazon rainforest and into the Amazon River. The Amazon is the largest river system in the world. At some points, the Amazon River is one mile wide, while at other points it can be thirty-five miles wide. At Belem, where the river flows into the Atlantic Ocean, it can be 200 to 300 miles across, depending on the season. Some of the animals that make their home here are river otters, freshwater river dolphins, turtles, piranha, manatees, electric eels, and a remarkable, giant air-breathing fish called the pirarucu.
The world's largest tropical rainforest, Amazonia covers more than half of Brazil. The canopy of Amazonia is less studied than the ocean floor. Scientists believe that the canopy may contain half of the world's species. Over 500 mammals, 175 lizards and over 300 other reptiles species, and one third of the world's birds live in Amazonia. It is estimated that about 30 million insect types can be found here. Competition for survival is fierce.
This may explain why over millions of years of evolution so many highly adapted species have evolved in the canopy of Amazonia. The most intense competition is between animals and plants. Both plants and animals have made adaptations to defend themselves from being eaten, and to overcome these defensive systems. Plants trap sunlight and turn it into energy for themselves and the herbivores of the canopy.
Some animals found in the canopy are the harpy eagle, which preys on monkeys, kinkajous, sloth, reptiles, and other birds. Sloths spend most of their lives in the treetops. Their diet of low nutrition leaves forces them to conserve energy, causing the sloth to spend 80% of its life resting. A large portion of a howler monkey's diet consists of leaves, which are hard to digest. Their metabolism is so low that they need to warm themselves up in the sunlight after a chilly night. Leaf-cutter ants are responsible for harvesting a sixth of the area's leaves, bringing leaf fragments to their underground nests. They play a critical role in the rainforest's ecosystem by pruning the vegetation, which stimulates new growth, and breaking down the leaves to renew the soil.
The Amazon rainforest consists of four layers or communities. Each layer has unique ecosystems, plants, and animals adapted to that system. The emergent layer is the tallest layer, where trees can be as tall as 200 feet, and rise well above the canopy. Here they are exposed to fluctuation of temperature, wind, and rainfall. The leaves are small and covered with a thick waxy surface to hold water. They take advantage of the wind by developing winged seeds that are blown to other parts of the forest. Trunks can be up to 16 feet around and braced by massive buttress roots. Some of the animals find everything they need to survive in the emergent layer and never leave it.
The main layer of the rainforest is the canopy. Most canopy trees have smooth, oval leaves that come to a point, known as a drip tip. This allows water to flow off the leaf quickly and prevents the growth of fungi, mosses, and lichens. The canopy's leaves are very dense and filter out about 80% of the sunlight. Many flowers and fruits grow in this layer. Epiphytes cover every available surface and bromeliads provide drinking water for the many canopy creatures, and breeding pools for tree frogs.
The understory only gets about two to five percent of the available sunlight. The plants find unique ways to adapt to this shadowy existence. Their solar-collecting leaves grow large, and are dark green in color. They don't often grow more than 12 feet in height. Because there is very little air movement, they rely on insects and animals to pollinate their flowers. Some grow large flowers and fruits low on their trunks to allow larger, non-climbing animals to eat and disperse their fruit. The largest concentrations of insects inhabit this layer.
The forest floor is the lowest layer and almost no plants grow here. Only about 2% of the sunlight filters through. The floor is littered with decomposing vegetation and organisms that are broken down into usable nutrients. Many nutrients are locked into this biomass. Tree roots stay close to the surface to access these nutrients. Large animals forage for roots and tubers, while insects like millipedes, scorpions, and earthworms use the litter as a source of food.
Despite all of its abundant richness, Amazonia's giant trees grow in the poorest of soil. The top two inches of the acidic soil contains 99% of the nutrients. Nine tenths of the forest's energy is stored in the leaves and tissues of the trees themselves. The forest floor is a porous mass that prevents minerals and nutrients from being washed away and lost. As soon as a tree falls, or a creature dies, decomposers begin to turn it into a food source and mulch. The vegetation to renew the cycle quickly absorbs the nutrients that are released. This is the tightest, most efficient ecosystem in nature. The destruction of one part of the system can spell the destruction of the whole system.
High temperatures and the amount of rain are the same throughout the year in Amazonia. The climate is warm and humid, with average temperatures around 79° F. The difference between day and night time temperatures is greater than those between seasons.
Today, more than 20% of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed and is gone forever. The land is being cleared for cattle ranches, mining operations, logging, and subsistence agriculture. Some forests are being burned to make charcoal to power industrial plants. More than half of the world's rainforests have been destroyed by fire and logging in the last 50 years. Over 200,000 acres are burned every day around the world, or over 150 acres every minute. Experts also estimate that 130 species of plants, animals, and insects are lost every day. At the current rate of destruction, it is estimated that the last remaining rainforests could be destroyed in less than 40 years.
Native peoples of the Amazon rainforest have used different plants for centuries as cures and potions for their health and survival. Scientists are now discovering that many of the plants are sources for new drugs for AIDS, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and Alzheimer's. Quinine, muscle relaxants, steroids, and caner drugs have already been discovered. Today 121 prescription drugs sold around the world come from plant-derived sources. Although 25% of all drugs are derived from rainforest ingredients, scientists have tested only 1% of tropical plants.
Another concern for Amazonia is the fate of it indigenous people. An estimated 10 million Indians were living in Amazonia about five hundred years ago. Today there are less than 200,000 indigenous peoples left in Amazonia. More than 90 tribes have been destroyed since the 1900's. Most of the shamans and medicine men remaining are 70 years old or more. With them goes a wealth of knowledge of medicinal species of plants and organisms.

O Amazonas é o maior Estado do Brasil. O Amazonas é banhado pela bacia hidrográfica amazônica, que responde por aproximadamente 20% da água doce do planeta. Os principais rios são: Negro (que banha a cidade de Manaus), Amazonas, Solimões, Madeira, Juruá, Purus, Içá, Uaupés e Japurá. No Brasil, país caracteristicamente tropical, o Amazonas é dominado pelo clima equatorial, predominante na Amazônia, tendo uma temperatura média de 26ºC. Ele também é o estado mais preservado do país, com 98% de sua cobertura florestal original, somente suas áreas protegidas por leis federais e estaduais, como parques e reservas florestais, ocupam um território equivalente a vinte vezes o tamanho do Líbano e o dobro de Portugal. Esplendor no maior jardim do planeta
As matas e as águas da Amazônia abrigam a mais variada fauna conhecida. São 324 tipos de mamíferos, 2. 500 espécies de peixes (menos de mil na bacia do Congo, a rival mais próxima, só 250 na do Mississipi), 1.800 espécies de aves já identificadas (1 300 na floresta do Congo, de novo a segunda colocada).
A Amazônia tem a maior serpente venenosa das Américas, a surucucu pico-de-jaca, de mais de 3 metros. Mas na floresta há menos cobras perigosas do que em outras regiões. São notáveis as não venenosas jibóias, sucuris e suas parentas, gigantes modorrentos de até 13 metros e mais de 200 quilos. Os mamíferos são na maioria de hábitos noturnos e solitários. O viajante pode andar dias na mata ouvindo ruídos misteriosos, mas sem encontrar qualquer grupo de animais. Mas as aves aquáticas têm na Amazônia o seu paraíso.
O Estado do Amazonas conta com 40 unidades de conservação federais (UCF) e 34 unidades de conservação estaduais (UCE) (em outubro de 2008). No total são 39,6 milhões de hectares de áreas protegidas por unidades de conservação, além das terras indígenas (TI), se considerarmos as unidades federais e estaduais juntas. O Sistema Estadual de Unidades de Conservação, assim como o Sistema Nacional de Unidades de Conservação, estabelecem que as unidades de conservação dividem-se em dois grupos com características específicas: Unidades de Conservação de Uso Sustentável, que visam compatibilizar a conservação da natureza com o uso sustentável de parcela dos seus recursos naturais e Unidades de Conservação de Proteção Integral, cujo objetivo é o de preservar a natureza, sendo admitido apenas o uso indireto dos seus recursos naturais.
O maior laboratório vivo do mundo
A biodiversidade da região amazônica é única, e a mais rica do mundo. Suas florestas concentram 60% de todas as formas de vida do planeta, mas calcula-se que somente 30% de todas elas são conhecidas pela ciência. Estima-se em cerca de um milhão de espécies animais e vegetais, incluindo mais de 2.000 tipos de peixes, 2.500 tipos de pássaros, 3.500 tipos de árvores com mais de 30 cm de diâmetro e 300 espécies de répteis, cobras e lagartos. Das 483 espécies de mamíferos existentes no Brasil, 324 vivem na Amazônia (67%); das 141 de morcegos, 125 voam na região. Com 30 milhões de espécies, os insetos formam o maior grupo de seres vivos na Terra, sem levar em conta bactérias e microrganismos. Na Amazônia está um terço deles. Esta biodiversidade constitui uma reserva estratégica para a sobrevivência do ser humano, na medida em que possui uma considerável reserva de plantas alimentícias, bem como de plantas medicinais.

A riqueza oferecida pela cultura amazonense, que recebeu uma considerável influência dos povos indígenas, está presente em nossa música regional, bem como nas artes plásticas, artesanato e nas manifestações folclóricas. Passeio com duração de dia inteiro, saída do porto de Manaus ou píer do hotel Tropical em Manaus, iniciamos o passeio apanhando os turistas em seus hoteis no horário combinado, transportamos de carro até a lancha que será utilizada para neste passeio, esta lancha é equipada com assentos para até 15 pessoas, coberta com motor 115hp, coletes salva-vidas, o passeio será acompanhado por um guia de turismo nativo.
Iniciaremos a navegação pelo Rio Negro até a Comunidade indígena localizada na praia do Tupé, no Rio Negro, com uma viagem de 1h, até a parada para visitar a comunidade indigena e assistir a apresentação feita pelos próprios índios na Maloca da comunidade, duração da apresentação cerca de 30 minutos e depois tempo livre para fotos e compra de artesanato, após embarque na lancha e navegação de subida do Rio Negro até o lago do Acajatuba, com viagem de uma hora até local onde será feita a atividade com botos, chegando ao flutuante haverá uma explicação a respeito das regras a serem seguidas durante esta atividade, neste local também é feito o monitoramento dos animais pelo Instituto Chico Mendes.
O tempo de interação com os botos é de 30 minutos, não mais para evitar o estresse dos animais, durante este tempo os turistas poderão nadar, tocar e bater fotos dos animais e depois da interação tempo livre para ver artesanato.
Depois da atividade seguiremos com os turistas para uma casa nativa de caboclos e neste local os turistas poderão conhecer o modo de vida do povo do local, como a farinha de mandioca é preparada e outras curiosidades do local, o almoço também é servido neste mesmo local, geralmente é baseado na cozinha local, sendo servido peixa assado de brasa e outras iguarias da região.
Após o almoço iniciaremos o retorno à Manaus com chegada prevista para as 15:30 ou 16:00, dependendo das condições climáticas o passeio poderá atrasar ou adiantar a chegada a Manaus.
Chegada em Manaus, a van ou carro estará aguardando no local combinado para levar os turistas de volta a seu lugar de estadia.

Após a visita os turistas seguirão de lancha para dentro do parque para conhecer as belezas naturais de escolher um bom local para realizar a pescaria de *piranhas, durante o tempo de pesca os turistas também poderão apreciar o por do sol amazônico do meio do lago.
*pescaria é feita com varas de bambu e anzóis pequenos, a pescaria é basicamente para pegar de soltar as piranhas, não inclui nenhuma outra modalidade de pesca esportiva, há não ser que o cliente faça uma solicitação antecipada antes de confirmar o passeio.
Ao cair da noite com lanternas potentes o guia que acompanha o grupo iniciará a procura pelos jacarés, durante a observação o guia tentará apanhar um jacaré para mostrar aos turistas e depois da explicação será solto no mesmo lugar de captura.
*a focagem de jacarés é basicamente um passeio para observar os animais em seu habitat natural mas dependo do cliente poderemos tentar capturar um para mostrar sua anatomia e depois o deixaremos no mesmo local, em nenhum momento prometeremos que vamos pegar um jacaré.

Passeio Para Nadar com os Botos no Rio Negro

Atividade realizada no Rio Negro, no lago do Acajatuba, este passeio é feito pela parte da manhã com duração de 5h, saída de Manaus as 08:30 da manhã, apanharemos os turistas em seu hotel e dependendo do tamanho do grupo utilizaremos um carro ou uma van, os turistas terão a chance de cruzar o Rio Negro pela ponte que leva o mesmo nome, e uma viagem com duração de 40 min. pela estrada Manoel Urbano até o lago do Ubim.
Neste local haverá uma lancha rápida esperando para levar os turistas e o guia até a base onde será realizada a atividade, a viagem até este local dura cerca de 40 min. dependendo do nível das águas, chegando ao local os turistas serão informados das regras do local, neste local também é feita a atividade de monitoramento desses mamíferos pelo Instituto Chico Mendes.
Após a explicação a atividade se iniciará, o tempo máximo que os turistas poderão passar com botos dentro da água é de 30 min. este é o tempo estabelecido para evitar estresse nos animais, neste período os visitantes poderão bater fotos, tocar nos animais mas não alimenta-los, haverá uma pessoa para fazer isso, após a atividade haverá um tempo livre para compra de artesanato no mesmo local e então todos seguirão para uma casa flutuante localizada bem próximo a base dos botos para almoçarem, o almoço será servido em estilo regional a base de peixe assado e outras delicias da região, após o almoço os turistas retornarão à Manaus e a o transporte os levará até seus hotéis.

Passeio com duração de dia inteiro, feito em lancha com capacidade para 15 passageiros, equipada com motor 115hp, toda coberta, iniciamos as 09:00 da manhã apanhamos o passageiro em seu hotel e o transportamos de carro até o porto escolhido onde a lancha aguarda, após a chegada todos embarcarão na lancha e iniciaremos o passeio.
Inicio da navegação pelo Rio Negro, passagem pela frente da cidade de Manaus com observação dos principais áreas de Manaus, como as áreas de casas de palafitas, área portuária onde se poderá ver o porto flutuante de Manaus, área do mercado Municipal, área de mercado do peixe, porto da Manaus Moderna e a área industrial, Observação da ilha do Marapatá e chegada ao encontro das águas
Explicação sobre o encontro dos rios Negro e Solimões, que faz com que as águas dos rios não se misturem por vários quilômetros, tempo para livre para tirar fotos e depois a lancha seguirá para a comunidade flutuante do Catalão, onde todas as pessoas vivem em casas flutuantes que acompanham o nível de subida e descida das águas, se existir profundidade suficiente(dependendo da estação do ano, não é possivel entar neste local de barco devido a seca do rio que vai de Setembro até Fevereiro) haverá a chance de navegar por dentro da comunidade.
Depois da visita a comunidade navegaremos por um pequeno rio chamado Xiborena, este rio conecta o Negro ao Solimões e é uma área muito boa para observação da fauna e flora nativa, com observação de áreas de fazenda, áreas de igapós, áreas de plantações e comunidades nativas.
Chegada ao rio Solimões e navegação nele até chegar ao parque Ecológico Janauary, onde haverá um restaurante flutuante, faremos uma parada para conhecer o local e observar as famosas Vitórias Amazônicas, plantas aquáticas que se desenvolvem nas águas barrentas e que podem chegar a 2m de diâmetro e são muito bonitas.
Haverá uma parada para almoçar no restaurante, o almoço servido no local é preparado no próprio local e servido em estilo Buffet, logo depois os turistas sairão para pescar as *piranhas e faremos um passeio por dentro do lago do Janauary para ver as belezas da localidade, dependendo da estação do ano, poderemos mudar o roteiro se não houver profundidade nos rios suficiente para navegação da embarcação.

Ao final da pescaria, a lancha fará uma parada no meio do lago para a observação do por do sol e ao cair da noite o guia iniciará a busca pelos *jacarés amazônicos, dependendo do tempo o guia tentará apanhar um jacaré para explicar um pouco sobre seu comportamento, e depois o guia deixará o animal no mesmo local onde foi apanhado afim de evitar danos ao animal, e finalizando a focagem, os turistas retornarão à Manaus de lancha e serão transportados de carro ou van de volta ao seu hotel.

Exploração das Grutas e Cachoeiras de Presidente Figueiredo

Esta opção se destina aqueles que gostam de aventuras, este passeio é feito em trilhas na região de Presidente Figueiredo que é considerada uma das melhores para a prática de esportes radicais e ecoturismo, a cidade fica localizada a 107 km de Manaus e é acessada pela estrada BR-174, é a mesma que liga Manaus ao último estado ao norte do país, Roraima e posteriormente a Venezuela, também é possível chegar ao mar caribenho por esta estrada.
Presidente Figueiredo é um dos mais novos municípios do estado do Amazonas, fundado em 1981, com uma população de cerca de 40 mil habitantes, hoje o turismo é uma das principais atividades econômicas da cidade.
Nesta opção oferecemos a chance de caminhar por dentro da floresta e desvendar as cavernas e cachoeiras deste local, iniciamos o passeio apanhando os clientes em seu hotel em Manaus, de carro os turistas irão até Pres. Figueiredo, a viagem dura cerca de 2h. Chegando no local os turista encontrarão um guia regional da cidade, além do outro guia que já acompanha o grupo desde Manaus, com dois guias os turistas iniciarão a trilha com caminhada até a gruta do Maruaga, indígena de importância para a região, que se rebelou no período de povoação da região, a caminhada até a gruta dura cerca de 1h, chegando a gruta o guia nativo explicará a respeito da caverna e haverá um tempo livre para aqueles que quiserem se banhar nas águas da caverna.

Passeio com duração de dia inteiro, feito de carro ou van dependendo do número de pessoas, acompanhado por guia de turismo, que mostrará e explicará sobre as belezas de Presidente Figueiredo, um pequeno município localizado a 107 km de Manaus, acessado pela BR 174 é a mesma que faz a ligação de Manaus com o estado de Roraima e a Venezuela, por esta estrada é possível chegar ao mar do Caribe.
O passeio inicia as 9:00 apanhando os turistas em seu hotel da manhã, viagem de cerca de 1:30h pela estrada, até a chegada em Presidente Figueiredo, por volta das 11:00 da manhã, visitaremos a primeira cachoeira, O santuário, um maravilhoso complexo natural formado por uma linda cachoeira rodeada de outras quedas, para chegar nesta cachoeira será necessário fazer uma pequena trilha mais ou menos 400 metros, chegando ao local os turistas poderão aproveitar tomando banho nas águas escuras, batendo fotos e relaxando no local, por volta as 12:30, saída prevista do local e todos seguirão para a cidade para visitar o parque do Urubuí, uma corredeira localizada bem no centro da cidade onde geralmente nos finais de semana a população de Manaus passa parte do tempo tomando banho, neste mesmo local há um restaurante que nos serve, a alimentação é bem regional, baseada em pratos típicos da região, chegando no local os turistas poderão escolher entre carnes, peixes e frango, geralmente sugerimos o prato da casa que é feito a base de peixe e é muito bom.
Por volta das 14:00, deixaremos o local em direção a mais uma cachoeira, desta vez visitarão a Asframa, uma área particular que também é aberta a visitação, tempo livre para aproveitar o local e por volta das 15:30, horário previsto para deixarmos a cachoeira de retornar à Manaus, com previsão de chegada as 17:00, o carro levará os clientes até o local de estadia dos turistas.
Durante certo periodo do ano o nível das águas fica mais baixo deixando as quedas mais fracas, as fotos mostradas geralmente são tiradas no período da cheia quando o nível das águas está mais forte.

CONHEÇA UM POUCO DE PARINTINS
LOCALIZAÇÃO
O município localiza-se à margem direita do rio Amazonas, numa área de 5.978 quilômetros quadrados e fica 369 quilômetros da capital, Manaus, em linha reta, e a 420 quilômetros por via fluvial. Isso equivale a 15 horas descendo e 27 subindo o rio amazonas, se a viagem for feita em barcos regionais. Por via aérea, o tempo estimado é de uma hora e meia, partindo de Manaus.
O lugar é uma ilha, conhecida como Tupinambrana, e foi descoberta e assim denomindada pelo Capitão de Milícia José Pedro Cordovil em 1796. Nessa ilha, além do grupo indígena Tupinambá - de onde se originou o nome do local- viviam índios Sapupe, Mawe, Peruviana, Mundurucu e Parintins.
Não é a toa que Parintins, que faz fronteira com o Estado do Pará, tem sua região também conhecida como Mundurucânia, em homenagem aos índios Mudurucu. Mudurucânia é todo o arquipélago das Tupirambaranas, que se estende de Juruti até a foz do Rio Madeira numa planície.
A diferença horária é mais ou menos de uma hora, em relação a Brasília, hora oficial do Brasil. Durante os meses de outubro a fevereiro, o horário de verão não é aplicado no Estado do Amazonas e, portanto, esta diferença aumenta para duas horas.
COMO CHEGAR A PARINTINS
Existem dois meios de transporte que são utilizados para chegar à cidade de Parintins, o primeiro e mais tradicional são as embarcações tipo regional, elas saem em diariamente do porto de Manaus no periodo do festival, também é possivel sair de Santarém e Belém no Pará. Partindo de Manaus a viagem dura cerca de 18h, até Parintins, e cerca de 24h de retorno à Manaus, você poderá adquirir sua passagem em nossa empresa ou direto no porto de MANAUS, no caso de viajar por conta própria recomendamos aos pasageiros que tragam sua própria rede, pois o barco não a provem.

PONTOS TURÍSTICOS DE PARINTINS
Parintins tem muito mais motivos para o visitante se apaixonar do que a criatividade do seu povo e a grandiosidade do seu Festival Folclórico. Quem chega na ilha não pode deixar de conhecer a Serra de Parintins com seus 154 metros de altura nem a exuberância da natureza no Morro de Santa Rita, onde existem lagos, igarapés, árvores gigantescas e espécies raras de orquídeas.
É indispensável mergulhar nas limpas águas do rio Uaicurapá que banham a praia de Taracuera e dar uma esticadinha, mais 15 minutos de barco, até a praia do Varre Vento, entre os rios Mamuru e Uaicurapá. O lago Macurany, com 10 km de extensão, fica por trás da cidade e é ideal para passeios de barco, lancha e jet ski. A ilha de Parintins possui também um rico patrimônio histórico-cultural. Conheça a Catedral de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a edificação mais alta da Ilha, a Igreja do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, que fica de frente para o rio Amazonas e de onde se pode observar um belíssimo pôr-do-sol e ainda a Igreja de São Benedito, fundada em 1795 pelo Frei José das Chagas, demolida em 1905 e reerguida em 1945.
A 20 minutos de barco, você vai conhecer a Vila Amazônia, banhada pelo rio Amazonas e pelo Paraná do Ramos. A Vila, de grande importância histórica, tem uma área de 78.270 hectares e foi criada para assentamento de imigrantes japoneses.
Catedral N.S do Carmo
Fundada em 31 de maio de 1962, ela é toada de tijolos aparentes e foi projetada na Itália. Ao seu lado esquerdo encontra-se uma torres de 40 metros que acompanha o estilo da Catedral. É a edificação mais alta do Município e pode ser vista a quilômetros de distância. A Catedral fica localizada na Av. Amazonas, s/n.
Igreja do Sagrado Coração de Jesus
Fundada em 1945, era a antiga Igreja N.S. do Carmo, mas com a construção da nova catedral passou a se chamar Sagrado Coração de Jesus em 1962. Ela fica localizada na praça Sagrado Coração, bem em frente ao colégio N.S. DO Carmo, o mais tradicional de Parintins. A Igreja tem à frente o rio Amazonas e é um dos melhores Lugares para se ver o pôr-do-sol.
Igreja de São Benedito
Fundada em 1795 pelo Frei José das Chagas, foi a primeira Igreja de Parintins. Demolida em 1905, hoje deu lugar á praça do Cristo Redentor e a nova capela de São Benedito foi construída em 1945, no bairro que tem o mesmo nome.
Vila Amazônica
Está situada a leste da cidade de Parintins, distante 20 minutos de barco. Banhada pelo rio Amazonas e pelo Paraná do Ramos, a vila tem uma área de 78.270 há onde moram 67 famílias. A importância história do lugar está relacionada ao apogeu da juta no Estado nas décadas de 30 e 40 do último século. Nessa época a Vila Amazônica foi criada para assentamento de imigrantes japoneses que vieram desenvolver a agricultura e implantar o cultivo da juta.
VIDA NOTURNA EM PARINTINS

O município possui dois distritos: Parintins e Mocambo, limita-se ao norte com o Município de Nhamundá; ao sul com o município de Barreirinha; ao leste com o Estado do Pará e a Oeste com o município de Urucurituba.
Os solos do município embora na sua maioria apresenta pobreza química natural, são solos com boas características físicas, requerendo um manejo adequado.

Relevo
Possuindo uma área de 7.069 quilômetros quadrados o município localiza-se sobre formações quaternárias e terraços holocênicos no setor ocidental do Estado do Amazonas. A ilha tupinambarana, parte componente do município, de aproximadamente 200 km de largura, somente na faixa da várzea, a ilha na verdade é uma arquipélago, uma vez que na época das cheias, fica entrecortada de lagos,furos, restingas, paranás e igapós, e a sede municipal localiza-se em uma dessas ilhas do arquipélago a uma altitude de 50m em relação ao nível do mar. O município tem sua cota máxima em seu relevo no lado Leste, na chamada Serra Valeria (Serra de Parintins) com aproximadamente 137m, e no lado Oeste as terras altas do Paurá.
História de Parintins
Durante as viagens exploratórias da Coroa Portuguesa em 1796, a Ilha Tupinambarana, hoje Município de Paritins, foi descoberta pelo Capitão de Milícias José Pedro Cordovil. A região era habitada pelos índios Tupinambá - de onde surgiu o nome da ilha - e também pelas tribos Sapupé, Peruviana, Mundurucu, Mawe e Parintins. No ano de 1803, uma missão religiosa sob a direção do frei José das Chagas, denominada Vila Nova da Rainha, instalou-se no lugar. Em 1833, essa Missão foi elevada à categoria de Freguesia, mudando o nome para Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Tupinambarana. Em 15 de outrubro de 1852 a elevação da Vila é efetivada, passando em então a se chamar Vila Bela da Imperatriz. Em 25 de Dezembro de 1880 a sede do município passou a se chamar Parintins, nome vindo dos índios Parintins ou Parintintins, antigos habitantes do local. Já em 1991, na vigência da divisão administrativa, o Município era composto de quatro distritos: Parintins (sede), Paraná do Ramos, Nhamundá e Xiburi. Mais tarde, foi criado o distrito da Ilha das Cotias, que em 1950 passou a constituir o Município de Nhamundá. Extinta a antiga divisão distrital, o Município de Parintins é constituido pela cidade de Parintins (sede) e pelas agrovilas de Mocambo e Cabury.

THE HISTORY OF THE PARINTINS FESTIVAL
The Boi Bumbá festival presents myths, tales and legends using characters, parade carts and giant puppets followed by the words of a master of ceremonies who describes in detail every bit of the action.
It is an incredible musical and theatrical experience, a religious procession, a tribal ritual, a giant puppet show, a fairy tale of powerful villains and brave heroes, a folk art presentation, a major party for the audience and an energizing choreography of the galera (gah-le-rah), all at once.
The characters in the performance come from the Boi Bumbá tale. There are two teams called Bois (plural of Boi). Each one tells the same story in all three night of the festival, amounting to 6 different performances of the same show. But every night is different because legends, rituals, dances, puppets, garments, alegorias, they all change and create the show anew.
There are many similar festivities in Brazil, but Parintins is the home of the biggest and most impressive of all. It is both an artistic display and a dispute between two different teams: Bois Caprichoso (cah-pree-show-zol) and Garantido (gah-run-tee-dow). Boi is the Portuguese word for ox, and it is also the main character of the drama that unfolds every night in an arena closely watched by 35,000 people.
After the 3-hour show of each Boi, the city has food, drinks and party for everybody. The main square, countless bars and every little corner near the Bumbódromo accommodate a crowd still full of energy to mimic the dance and songs of their favorite Boi.
Parintins folklore has its own principles: it expresses spontaneous culture and evolves freely, always in its own terms. It is not clear exactly how the whole thing started. Some accounts hold that Lindolfo Monteverde, the alleged creator of Garantido, brought to life a bedtime story he used to hear from his grandfather. Similarly, Caprichoso is considered to be a creation of José Furtado Belém and the Cid brothers. Each Boi would be the result of a different promessa to St. John the Baptist.
The play tells the story of Pai Francisco, who worked in a farm, and Mãe Catirina, his pregnant wife who longed to eat beef tongue. Pai Francisco kills an ox to satisfy his wife's craving. Unfortunately, this ox is the farm owner's favorite. A priest and a doctor fail to revive the Boi, for whose death Pai Francisco would be sent to jail.
The story has a happy end thanks to the ritual performed by a pajé (pa-zhe, shaman) . Pai Francisco is forgiven and the whole ordeal ends in a major party that celebrates the Boi's life.
Celebrations in Parintins Parintins began modestly enough with processions throughout the city. As time went by, the festival, the story and the characters changed to incorporate legends, rituals, music and dance of local indians and to celebrate the lifestyle of the caboclo, the countryman who has a mixed heritage of Europeans an aborigines.
The Competition
The festival also is a competition. The winner is chosen by a jury that evaluates each Boi according to several criteria, such as the presentation of the Boi, the indian tribe and their chiefs tuxauas (to-shall-us), the shaman rituals, songs, alegorias, choreographies, etc. One of the most fascinating aspects of the festival is the enthusiastic participation of the audience in the Bumbódromo.
The support of the galeras (the crowd of fans cheering for each Boi) is also evaluated by the judges, and each Boi has people who are in charge of organizing the galera. The Bumbódromo is divided in two halves for the Garantido and Caprichoso fans, who dance and wave handkerchiefs and candles. They rock and roll when each new character comes into the scene.
People are very serious about taking sides in Parintins. Everybody in town has roots that go all the way up to one of the teams, and there is no compromise between them. You can never ever support the wrong Boi ? for if you do so, the opposite Boi could win. Even with such strong feelings, hooligans have no place here. Whenever one side is performing, the other maintains complete silence.
In the morning of the fourth day, the winner is announced, after which the fans and supporters of the winning Boi parade around town. Both sides are swept in emotion, but the police is on the watch and prevents any disorderly behavior.

The characters in the performance come from the Boi Bumba; tale. The main character is the Boi , played by a man named tripa (?guts?) who dances holding a frame covered in fabric. There are two Bois : Garantido is white with a red heart on its forehead, while Caprichoso is black and has a blue star. In Parintins, the vaqueiros of the tale are replaced by Pai Francisco, Mãe Catirina, Amo do Boi and Sinhazinha. Together, they lead the boi, who is wounded, killed and then revived.
The presence of Indian s Maué, Sapupé and Parintins, who lived in the island long before the tale was created, is also incorporated to the plot. There is the Pajé, who resuscitates the Boi; Cunhã-Poranga, the icon of female beauty who conquers the hearts of the tribe warriors; and the Tuxauas, the symbol of divinity and Indian wisdom.
Parintins Bumbódromo is the stage where characters from Indian myths - Iara, Curupira, Gigante Juma, Cobra Grande, Formiga do Fogo, boto cor-de-rosa - come to life.
The music in the festival is strongly influenced by Indian traditions, as evidenced by the use of the palminhas, maracás de lata and drums. The tribe tuxauas parade to the beat of an Indian dance.
In Parintins, Bumba-meu-boi is also a token of gratitude towards St. John . The festival is in June precisely because it is also the month traditionally associated with that saint. It is a part of the festas juninas (June celebrations) cycle, which includes celebrations in honor of St. Anthony and St. Peter.
Not unlike most popular celebrations in Northeastern Brazil , Parintins festival has a large public participation. There are some three thousand brincantes(people that are part of the public) in the celebration.
Shamanism involves mystical ceremonies in which the shaman ? a wich doctor with supernatural healing powers, ability to communicate with spirits and tell the future ? comes into a trance and supposedly leaves his own body. The presence of shamans is mandatory in the performance (much like of the baianas section in Brazilin Carnival), which takes a lot of research from the organizers, once it must be historically correct. The Pajé and the Tuxuauas bring about the happy end by reviving the Boi .
The pajelança , a mystical healing ceremony, invokes the soul of the beast, which is different every year (the cobra grande , for instance) which is invoked in order to bring the Boi back to life.
It is only natural that the Parintins folk festival changed with time due to the contact with Indian culture. Before the eighteenth century, intellectuals regarded popular manifestations as a byproduct of ignorance in arts and sciences. In the nineteenth century, experts accepted the liveliness and spontaneity of those manifestations, in contrast with academic formalism.
A careful analysis can detect all kinds of influences in popular manifestations, such as ancient religious beliefs, basic wishes and fears of human beings, political longings of the population and even historical facts.

In Parintins you will find nice folks who paint their houses in the color of their favorite Boi and enjoy riding their bikes. There are almost no "normal", 4-wheeled taxis - here taxi means either a motorbike (2 wheels) or a bicycle with a special carriage in front (3 wheels and no motor).
Tourism is an important source of income for the county, and there is much more to see and do besides the festival. Those who like fishing should come in the dry season, from September to December.
Indians Sateré-Mawé and Wai-Wai are famous for their necklaces, earrings and all kinds of craftsmanship using feathers and seeds. Other popular items are made with roots, straw and jute.
The city was founded in the eighteenth century by José Pedro Cordovil, upon the request of the Portuguese king, and was called Tupinambarana. It was first inhabited by Maué, Sapupé and Parintintin indians. It was only in 1880 that it was officialy recognized as a city and received the name it holds today.
In Parintins weather is mostly tropical: rainy and hot. Temperatures range between 22°C and 30°C. The native vegetation is the meadow forest and the main harvest products are avocado, cocoa, banana, coffee, cashew, tapioca, watermelon, pineapple, sweet potato, coconut, corn and beans. Animal farming is based mostly on bulls.
Traditionally the Parintins folklore festival used to take in the last 3 days of June. Starting from 2005, it will be scheduled for three days covering the last weekend of June.
Parintins is a city in the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas. It is 370km East from Manaus , the state capital, a journey that is 420km long by river. The city is on an island, and holds around 100,000 inhabitants.
The flight from Manaus takes less than an hour from Manaus to Parintins, During the festival there several planes every hour.
Those who prefer a boat ride on the Amazon River must be ready for a 20 to 30h trip. Most boats have hammocks where the passengers can sleep. There are extra lines to Parintins in the days that precede the festival, and it's easy to find a seat ? or a net ? in one of them.
There is a wide range of accommodations in Parintins, from low-end hotels to cabins in fancy boats. There are also houses that can be rented during Festival days.
Reservations for hotels, plane or boat tickets and Bumbódromo tickets should be placed in advance, since the Festival is the second largest folklore event in the country.
Some people say that Bumbá Garantido was founded by Lindolfo Monteverde.
As a young boy, Monteverde enjoyed hearing the stories his grandfather used to tell. His favorite story was the tale of a happy and cheerful ox which danced and was deeply loved by everyone.
One day, Pai Francisco , who worked for the farm owner, kills the ox to fulfill the desire of Mãe Catirina , his pregnant wife, to eat beef tongue. The couple is then chased by all villagers while a doctor, a priest, the owner and his daughter Sinhazinha try to save the ox's life. After much praying the ox is resuscitated, to the great joy of all. A huge party then takes place and Pai Francisco , the story's villain, is forgiven.
Years later the story remained in Monteverde's imagination, so one day he built a wooden frame, covered it in fabric and paraded around Parintins with his Boi Bumbá .
After Monteverde joined the army, he became very sick and made a promessa (prayer) to St. John the Baptist. He promised that if he ever regained his health, his Boi would always come to the streets, as long as he lived. His prayer was answered, and that was the beginning of Boi Garantido.
According to the legend, Monteverde was a fine improvisation artist and created impromptu verses for the toadas as teasers for the opposite Boi . His deep voice could be heard from far away.
Boi Garantido is white and his symbol is a red heart. There are several versions for the origin of the Garantido name. According to one of them, once during the show one of the horns of ?Boi contrário? ( Caprichoso ) fell down. Monteverde immediately seized the opportunity and sang ?our Boi always comes out in one piece.
That is for sure! (? garantido ')?. In another version of the story, a Caprichoso singer said ?take care this year, for my Boi is finely built (? caprichado ?). To which Monteverde responded ?well, then finely build yours, for mine is sure thing (?garantido')!? There are many other versions and people in Parintins are always eager to tell them.
Bumbá Caprichoso was allegedly created by the Cid brothers in 1913 in what is now the ?blue portion? of the city. They moved to Parintins in search of work. They wanted to start a family and a new life. They too made promessas to St. John the Baptist, and their prayers were answered. In return they built an ox puppet in honor of the Saint.
José Furtado Belém, a lawyer and politician from Parintins, saw a Boi dance when he went to Manaus . He liked the idea and created Boi Galante with the Cid brothers. The first version was a crude cardboard box that came to the streets in june 1922. In 1925, a group of people that included the Cid brothers wanted to create a Boi Bumbá . Colonel João Meireles named it Caprichoso , a Boi from Manaus of which he was a big fan. Caprichoso began as a group of 20 with a blue star as a symbol.

There are several versions for the Festival history. Composer Raimundinho Dutra says that, according to his parents, his grandfather Marçal Mendes de Assunção brought the first dances to Parintins in 1888. Odinéia Andrade, a folklore expert, confirms the version that the Fetsival began in 1913 with the Cid brothers. Simão Assayag, an engineer who is also a composer, painter, sculptor and folklore expert, says that the first two Bois were Garantido , created by Lindolfo Monteverde, and Galante , the work of a certain Emídidio Vieira. Over some disagreements Vieira eventually left Galante , which was then took over by the Cid brothers, who changed the name to Caprichoso .
All those different versions, some of them full of passion, are part of a wide range of human cultural phenomena, different points of view and ways of understanding and living everyday history.
Parintins folklore festival is a melting pot of such diverse elements as church indoctrination, indian rituals, mythology, science, facts, fiction, political longings and charges of environmental hazards. The festival reflects the culture, art, the experiences and the life of this is internationally renowned modicum of Brazil .
In 1966, a set of rules was created a standard in the evaluation of the performances. The Bois used to be managed by owners until a board of directors was chosen for each Boi in the early eighties. Starting in 2005, the city hall took over the administration of both groups.
Each night 21 or 22 items are chosen to be judged by 12 jury members. The minimum score awarded by each jury member is 7 and the maximum is 10, fractions are allowed.
The color of the opposing Bumbá may be used only in exceptional cases like an alegoria that naturally has to be blue or red. In all other circumstances its used is forbidden.
The items: ?beauty?, ?creativity?, ?sympathy?, ?originality? and ?charisma? are judged in every single presentation. In addition to that, the following competition items are judged on additional item-specific criteria:
APRESENTADOR: Is the Master of Ceremonies. Must be able to command the arena as well the public, have oral fluency, excellent pronunciation, diction, cheerfulness, attention to all that happens inside the arena.
LEVANTADOR DE TOADAS: He is the singer. His voice carries the theme of the Boi . Must have good diction, voice timber and vocal techniques.
BATUCADA OU MARUJADA: Sustains the rhythm of the presentation. Serves as the basis of the spectacle furnishing rhythm to the toadas .
RITUAL INDÍGENA: Recreation of a shaman ritual within the folkloric context. The jury takes into account the dramatization and the created effects.
PORTA-ESTANDARTE: Represents the symbol of the Boi movement. She will have to show agility, elegance, cheerfulness, and skill in dancing with the flag.
AMO DO BOI: Is the owner of the farm. Needs good diction, agility and elegance, develop scenic expressions and be able to invent improvised poems.
SINHAZINHA DA FAZENDA: Is the daughter of the farm owner. Needs to the graceful, agile, simple and cheerfulness, saluting the ox and the public.
RAINHA DO FOLCLORE: Represents the ?expression of power through popular manifestation?. Must be graceful, move with agility.
CUNHÃ-PORANGA: Represents the most beautiful woman of the tribe, a priestess and a warrior. She have to convey to the jury and the audience the power of her beauty. Must be a master of expression through dance, agile, and embody the character.
BOI BUMBÁ EVOLUÇÃO: It's the symbol of the ?popular manifestation? (manifestação popular). Must have a visually correct shape. His movements must be choreographed to resemble the behavior of a real ox.
TOADA (LETRA E MÚSICA): Literary and musical ?backbone? of the festival. Evaluated are the music, the text, and the performance.
PAJÉ: He is the shaman, a witchdoctor and a priest. Must exude confidence and dominate the scenic space.
TRIBOS INDÍGENAS: Presentation of an Amazonian native group. Issues to be considered: synchronicity of the movements, truthful representation of reality, colors, scenic expression, originality of movement.
PAI FRANCISCO E MÃE CATIRINA: Husband and wife, burlesque characters from the farm. Should present themselves comically, be funny and improvise.
TUXAUAS: These are the supreme tribal chiefs. Must wear richly detailed costume ( capacete ).
FIGURA TÍPICA REGIONAL: A symbol of the Amazonian culture that honors the roots of the region.
ALEGORIA: Artistic structure that serves as the scenery for the presentation. Issues to be considered: completion, execution, functionality and aesthetics.
LENDA AMAZÔNICA: Fiction that illustrates the culture and the folklore of the region. Evaluated are imagination, creativity and scenic evolution..
VAQUEIRADA: Guardian of the Boi . Principal attention is paid to choreography.
GALERA: The public cheering for a given Boi . Evaluated are cheerfulness, contagious energy, synchronization of actions.
ORGANIZAÇÃO E CONJUNTO FOLCLÓRICO - APOTEOSE: A collection of items: individual characters and groups in the context of the performance. Considered issues: harmony, dynamics of the presentations, freedom of movement in the arena and ability to maintain the timing of the presentation.
COREOGRAFIA: Choreography. Subject to evaluation are: dynamics, movement, rhythm and synchronicity.

A HISTÓRIA DO FESTIVAL DE PARINTINS
A festa do Boi-bumbá, ou Festa do Boi, ou ainda Brincadeira do Boi , têm sua origem no Nordeste do Brasil, onde derivou de outra dança típica de lá, o Bumba-meu-Boi, com as constantes imigrações de Nordestinos e Maranhenses para a Região Norte do Brasil, em especial para o Estado do Amazonas, houve também a imigração de manifestações culturais como o Bumba -meu- Boi que logo foi assimilado pela população e ganhou aspecto local.
A FESTA DO BOI-BUMBÁ :
O Boi-bumbá tem sua história idêntica ao Bumba-meu-boi, basicamente, desenvolve-se em torno da estoria do fazendeiro que tinha um boi de raça, muito bonito e querido, de acordo com um enredo que conta a história do Negro Francisco, funcionário da fazenda e cuja sua mulher, Catirina fica grávida e sente desejo de comer a língua do boi, este fica desesperado e com medo de Catirina perder o filho que espera, caso o desejo não seja atendido, resolve roubar o boi de seu patrão e o mata para atender ao desejo de sua mulher grávida.
Negro Francisco mata o boi preferido do patrão, O amo descobre e manda os índios caçarem Negro Francisco, que busca um pajé para fazer ressuscitar o boi, O boi renasce e tudo vira uma grande festa. O imaginário do bumba meu boi nordestino acrescido das crenças e mitologias dos povos indígenas, daí nascem as brincadeiras do Boi Bumbá, com itens sendo incorporados a festa como o Pajé (o xamã da tribo), a cunhã poranga (a moça mais bonita da tribo), os tuxauas (personalidades de destaque político nas tribos), os rituais e as tribos indígenas, da tradição do homem branco vem a sinhazinha (filha do fazendeiro), amo do boi (pessoa responsável pelos assuntos do patrão), e as figuras de comedia que são Pai Francisco e Mãe Catirina e Gazumbá, o bebê.
O FESTIVAL FOLCLÓRICO DE PARINTINS
O festival de Parintins tomou dimensões internacionais desde o ano de 1995 com o inicio da transmissão ao vivo pela televisão desde então o festival atrai mais e mais turistas e brincantes a cada ano que se realiza, a festa acontece no centro de convenções Amazonino Armando Mendes, ou mais popularmente chamado o Bumbodromo, localizado no centro de Parintins, e com capacidade para 35 mil expectadores, com um lado pintado em azul e o outro em vermelho para dividir as galeras (publico) que prestigia o festival.
Os Bois Garantido e Caprichoso se apresentam no Bumbódromo, durante a apresentação, cada Boi leva aproximadamente 3 horas com uma apresentação recheada de efeitos e cores, shows pirotécnicos e as alegorias gigantescas representando cada tema apresentado no ano por cada agremiação, cada uma dos Bois leva ao Bumbódromo cerca de aproximadamente 5.000 brincantes que chegam muito cedo na fila, na espera de conseguir um bom lugar para assistir seu boi favorito, durante o momento que os bois se apresentam o contrário (time adversário), não pode se manifestar correndo o risco de perder pontos valiosos.
A CRIAÇÃO DOS BOIS GARANTIDO E CAPRICHOSO.
Conta-se que o Bumbá Garantido, isto é, a metade ?vermelha? do município de Parintins, teve Lindolfo Monteverde como fundador do ?Boi? Garantido.
Ainda garoto, gostava de ouvir as histórias que seu avô contava. A que mais lhe encantava, era a de um ?Boi? alegre, brincalhão e animado. No conto, este animal dançava, enchendo de energia os lugares por onde passava, sendo muito querido por todos; até que um dia, um empregado da fazenda, Pai Francisco, matava o bicho para satisfazer o desejo de sua esposa, que grávida, queria comer língua de boi. Esse personagem e sua esposa, Mãe Catirina, passavam a ser perseguidos por todos na cidade. Na tentativa de salvar o ?Boi?, apareciam o médico, o padre, o Amo da fazenda e sua filha ? a Sinhazinha.
Depois de muita reza e de fazerem todo o possível, finalmente, conseguiam ressuscitar o animal. A felicidade era enorme, começava uma grande festa e, Pai Francisco, que até então era o vilão da história, acabava sendo perdoado.
A história permaneceu na imaginação de Lindolfo Monteverde, de tal forma, que ele viria a criar uma armação, cobrindo-a com um pano e saindo às ruas, brincando com o seu ?Boi Bumbá?. Isso teria acontecido, há muitos anos, na cidade de Parintins.
Dizem que a brincadeira começava sempre com uma ladainha (uma prece), seguida de uma grande festa, com muita comida e muita música.
Houve uma época em que Lindolfo Monteverde estivera no exército. Naquela ocasião, o rapaz adoecera gravemente. A fim de recuperar a saúde, fizera uma promessa a São João Batista. Prometera que, se voltasse a ficar bom, seu ?Boi? jamais deixaria de sair às ruas, pelo tempo que ele vivesse.
Para alegria de todos aqueles que têm a sorte de visitar a cidade de Parintins durante a época do Festival, São João Batista atendera seu pedido! Lindolfo Monteverde se recuperara e todos os anos, até os dias de hoje, os torcedores do ?Boi? se reúnem para rezar e festejar.
Conta-se também, que Lindolfo Monteverde era um ótimo repentista, isto é, ele incomodava os torcedores do ?Boi? contrário com os desafios que criava em suas toadas (música típica do Festival). Tinha um vozeirão, que poderia ser ouvido de longe.
O Boi Garantido foi criado branco com o coração vermelho. O nome, Garantido, tem algumas versões para justificá-lo. Uma delas deriva das primeiras brigas entre os ?brincantes? (torcedores) de ambos os ?Bois?. O chifre do ?Boi contrário? cai e Lindolfo, como bom repentista que era, entoa as palavras: ?nosso Boi sempre sai inteiro. Isso é Garantido!?. A outra versão parte de outro repentista, que desafia: ?Este ano, se cuide, que eu vou caprichar no meu ?Boi?. Lindolfo então retruca: ?Pois capriche no seu, que eu ?garanto? o meu!?
Outras versões existem, várias histórias envolvidas com os ?Bois?, merecem ser ouvidas. Nem que sejam contadas pelos próprios moradores da cidade.
Por outro lado, lá no lado azul do município, o Bumbá Caprichoso, nascido em outubro de 1913, criado pelos irmãos Cid, que mudaram para Parintins com a esperança de começarem uma vida nova. Foram em busca de trabalho, de constituírem famílias.
Na ocasião, fizeram também as suas promessas a São João Batista. e tiveram seus desejos realizados, a promessa que tinham feito fora cumprida e então ofereceram um boizinho feito de pano à São João Batista.
Jose Furtado Belém, advogado que teria feito carreira política em Parintins, tinha tido a oportunidade de conhecer a dança do ?Boi? quando estivera em visita a Manaus. Ao encontrar-se com os três irmãos da família Cid e saber sobre ?Boi?, gostara da ideia e, juntos criariam o ?Boi? Galante. Inicialmente teria sido um ?Boi? simples, feito de caixa de papelão e, sairia às ruas pela 1ª vez, em junho de 1922.
Em 1925, um grupo de pessoas estivera reunida, a família Cid entre eles. Tinham como objetivo, fundar um ?Boi Bumbá?. Um dos presentes, o Coronel João Meireles, teria sugerido colocar o nome de Caprichoso ? ?Boi? que teria visto em Manaus, do qual o coronel seria fã. Todos concordam e acertam ainda, que Felix Cid, que era repentista e dotado de uma voz maravilhosa, seria o amo do ?Boi?.
O nome, Caprichoso, teria um significado intrínseco a ele, isto é, pessoas cheias de capricho, trabalho e honestidade. O sufixo ?oso?, significando provido ou cheio de. Quando somados, ?capricho? mais ?oso?, poder-se-ia dizer que é extravagante e primoroso em sua arte.
O ?Boi? Caprichoso contava, inicialmente, com uma marujada, como eram chamados os integrantes da batucada, de 20 pessoas. Os símbolos da Marujada eram: a Estrela Maior, o Amo e A Vaquejada. Surge então, o símbolo do Caprichoso: a estrela azul.
Diversas versões contam a história do Festival de Parintins, da rivalidade entre os ?Bois?, qual deles teria surgido primeiro ??
Um relato de Raimundinho Dutra, compositor, diz ter escutado de seus próprios pais, que foi seu avô, o maranhense Marçal Mendes de Assunção, quem trouxera as primeiras danças para Parintins. Isso, em 1988.
Outra história seria a da folclorista Odinéia Andrade, que coincidentemente, ou não, confirma a criação, em 1913, nascida das promessas dos irmãos Cid.
Simão Assayag, compositor, engenheiro, folclorista, pintor, escultor; diz que os dois primeiros ?Bois? teriam sido o Garantido, criado por Lindolfo Monteverde, e o Galante criado por Emídio Vieira, depois de uma briga, Emídio teria saído do Galante e os irmãos Cid teriam assumido o ?Boi?, trocando o nome para Caprichoso.
As várias versões, desencontradas; algumas delas carregadas de emoção e de paixão referem-se ao aspecto amplo da cultura humana; dos diferentes modos de ver, compreender, assimilar, viver e conviver a história do dia-a-dia.
Resultado da união entre o trabalho de catequização da igreja, dos rituais tribais, dos contos, da mitologia, da ciência, da realidade, da ficção, dos anseios políticos, das denúncias de agressão ao meio ambiente; o Festival Folclórico de Parintins vem refletir os valores artístico-culturais, as experiências e a vida que existe neste pedacinho do Brasil, hoje em dia conhecido internacionalmente.
Desde o início da década de 80 os ?Bois? eram administrados por uma diretoria, antes disso eram administrados por seus respectivos donos. Em 1966 passaram a seguir um regulamento, que impõe um julgamento para embasar e satisfazer a decisão, na escolha de um campeão, hoje os bois são administrados pela prefeitura de Parintins.
Parintins, uma cidade pacata na ilha Tupinambarana, no meio da selva amazônica, é habitada por um povo talentoso. O festival folclórico apresenta a um só tempo: mitos, contos e lendas, através de figuras, carros alegóricos, bonecos gigantes, tudo isso acompanhado das palavras do apresentador, que vai narrando cada detalhe em todas as apresentações. O som contagiante, um batuque sob o comando de maestros; o acompanhamento, animação e coreografia da ?galera? completam o quadro.
Nele desfilam figuras extraídas do conto do ?Boi? Bumbá. O personagem principal é o ?Boi?, representado por uma armação coberta de pano ? branco, com o coração vermelho, no caso do ?Boi? Garantido e, preto com a estrela azul, no caso do ?Boi? Caprichoso -, com um homem ? que recebe o nome de tripa - nome carinhoso dado à pessoa que tem a honra de vestir a fantasia do ?Boi?, dançando em seu interior. Os vaqueiros, personagens do conto original, Pai Francisco, Mãe Catirina, o Amo do ?Boi? e a Sinhazinha. Juntos, eles conduzem o ?Boi?, que é ferido e depois ressuscitado.
E, como Parintins já era habitada pelos índios maués, sapupés e parintintins (daí o nome da cidade) antes mesmo do conto e dos contadores de contos chegarem à ilha, novos personagens foram introduzidos à trama. O Pajé, que aparece em meio a algum ritual indígena, cuja história vai sendo contada pelo apresentador; a Cunhã-Poranga, que representa a beleza feminina, encantando os guerreiros da tribo; os Tuxauas, que representam a divindade e a sabedoria indígena.
Desfilam no ?Bumbódromo? de Parintins, figuras lendárias, mitológicas, religiosas, além de personagens vindos da mitologia indígena: Iara, Curupira, Gigante Juma, São João, Cobra Grande, Formiga do Fogo, boto-cor-de-rosa etc.
A música adquire um tom peculiarmente indígena devido ao som das palminhas, dos maracás de lata, dos tambores. O ritmo, enriquecido pelo desfile da tribo indígena, da presença dos tuxáuas, tem a batida de uma dança indígena. As rixas, sempre presentes através das toadas de desafio, pontuam e levam a ?galera? ao delírio.
Em Parintins o Bumba-meu-Boi expressa o agradecimento a São João pela graça recebida e como junho é o mês do Santo, este é o mês do festival. Como parte do ciclo de festas juninas, quando também são celebradas as festas a Santo Antonio e São Pedro.
Próprio das festas nordestinas, o festival de Parintins apresenta-se com uma grande massa de figurantes, em torno de 3 mil ?brincantes?, como são chamadas as pessoas que se apresentam durante o festival.
O xamanismo é uma cerimônia mística em que o xamã ? feiticeiro com poderes sobrenaturais de cura, capaz de se comunicar com os espíritos e de fazer previsões, utilizando técnicas que o levam ao êxtase e neste momento ele entra num estado de transe e abandona o corpo. Item obrigatório (como a ala das baianas no carnaval), obriga os organizadores dos ?Bois? a pesquisarem antes de iniciar os preparativos para o festival, pois o ritual deve ser baseado em trabalho de pesquisa e não pode perder o contexto folclórico. O Pajé e os Tuxauas algumas vezes são responsáveis pelo final feliz, ressuscitando o ?Boi?. A ?pajelança?, uma cerimônia xamãnística realizada para promover a cura, invoca a alma do bicho, que varia a cada ano (a cobra grande, por exemplo) e nele encarna para saber como dar a vida de volta ao ?Boi?. Há a purificação local, cânticos e danças até que ele recebe a receita da cura.
O Festival folclórico de Parintins sofre as mudanças naturais, ocorridas ao longo dos anos, como o contato com a cultura indígena. Até o século XVIII as elites consideravam as manifestações populares, resultado da ignorância e do desconhecimento das artes e das ciências, ainda hoje vemos pessoas que pensam desta forma,
Já no século XIX, estudiosos identificaram o encanto e espontaneidade destas manifestações, contrastando-se com o formalismo acadêmico. No entanto, um olhar atento pode acessar inúmeras informações, desde as mais antigas crenças religiosas até os sonhos e os temores próprios dos seres humanos, passando ainda pelos desejos políticos da população, sem esquecer também os fatos históricos.
DICIONÁRIO COM MUITOS DITOS DE PARINTINS
Alegoria: Estrutura artística, que serve como cenário.
Alvorada: Festa realizada durante a madrugada e anuncia o início de um evento.
Alvorada do Boi: Festa anunciando o início do Festival do Boi Bumbá.
Amo do boi: É o dono da fazenda e pai de Sinhazinha. Ele exige que seus vaqueiros cuidem e protejam o seu boi. No Festival de Parintins entoa versos exaltando o boi.
Apresentador: Mestre de cerimônia, porta-voz do seu Bumbá. Encarregado de agitar as torcidas, animar a galera, atento a cada ítem, durante toda a apresentação.
Arraial: O comércio de comidas típicas e a promoção de atividades sócio-culturais.
Asa dura: Avião.
Auto: A apresentação folclórica.
Baixa do São José: Local da fundação do Boi-bumbá Garantido.
Batucada: Nome dado aos músicos do Boi Garantido. Seu nome deve-se ao ritmo da percussão, seus principais instrumentos.
Boi: Boi de pano, razão de ser do festival Folclórico do Boi Bumbá; Todo o conjunto: músicos, tribos, brincantes e o próprio boi, que se apresentam no bumbódromo de Parintins; O Boi Garantido; O Boi Caprichoso; Os Bumbás.
Boi-bumbá: Rica manifestação cultural. Estudiosos apresentam duas versões para explicar seu surgimento: uma delas, que teriam sido escravos e pessoas simples; outra, que estaria relacionado a elementos orientais e europeus do Boi-de-Canastra de Portugal. Lenda do fazendeiro que tinha um boi querido por todos, que sabia até dançar.
Boiuna: Do Tupi, cobra preta. A grande Sucurijú (sucuri), uma das maiores cobras do mundo, não venenosa, possui grande força muscular para enroscar-se em suas presas e triturá-las até os ossos, preparando-as para a deglutição. Podem atingir até 11m. Lendas exagerando-lhe o porte e as proezas a coloca em numerosas narrativas.
Brincante: Cada uma das pessoas que acompanha o boi, dentro do Bumbódromo. O nome vem do fato de se considerar o boi uma brincadeira - os brincantes.
Bumbá: O conjunto de músicos, tribos, brincantes e o próprio boi que se apresentam no bumbódromo de Parintins. Boi Caprichoso; Boi Garantido; Bois de Parintins; Interjeição onomatopaica indicando estrondo de pancada ou queda - significaria "bate", ou "chifra, meu boi".
Bumbá-meu-boi: Festa popular realizada em várias regiões; folcloristas fazem referência à confraternização pela chegada do Menino Deus entre os homens.
Bumbódromo: Centro Cultural de Parintins, situado entre a Av. das Nações e a Rua Paraíba. Inaugurado em 1988, com capacidade para 35 mil pessoas. Local onde se apresentam os bumbás, durante o Festival. Fora da época do Festival, o local torna-se uma escola com 1'8 salas de aula, com toda infraestrutura necessária para as instalações.
Caboclo: Mestiço de branco com índio.
Capacete: Cocar indígena de 2 a 3 metros, representando um um tema do Festival. O brincante que vestem o capacete é conhecidos como tuxauas.
Caprichoso: Boi de Parintins, nascido em 1913. Suas cores são azul e preta.
Carapanã: Moriçoca, mosquito.
Contrário: Denominação dada ao boi adversário. O simpatizante de um determinado boi jamais pronuncia o nome do boi adversário, tratando-o sempre como "o contrário".
Cuca: Personagem do folclore, com aparência indeterminada, como um bicho-papão feminino, que amedronta crianças.
Cunhã: Menina; moça.
Cunhanporanga, Cunhã Poranga: A mulher mais bela da tribo, que encanta o coração dos querreiros indígenas; sacerdotisa. Cunhã Poranga: Moça bonita - cunhã = moça, poranga = bonita.
Cunhatã: Criança; menina; moça.
Curral: Local onde se localizam os ensaios. Cada um dos Bois tem o seu próprio curral, o da Batucada - Garantido e o da Marujada - caprichoso.
Curumim: Menino, garoto.
Curupira: Protetor da floresta, caracterizado pela esperteza, ilude, deixa rastros, levando quem se aventura mata adentro a se perder. Representado por um duende de cabelos ruivos e pés invertidos, com calcanhares para frente e dedos para trás.
Encarnado: Cor do Boi Garantido, vermelho.
Evolução: Quando o boi de pano está se apresentando, na arena do Bumbódromo.
Figura: Personagens do Festival. Pode ser, por exemplo, o Boi, o Pai Francisco etc.; Símbolo das lendas e do folclore regional.
Galera: Torcida organizada de cada um dos bumbás. A galera é parte integrante do Boi, é julgada pela animação. Marca as cores de cada boi. A guerra das galeras é um espetáculo formidável do Festival. De acordo com o regulamento, durante a apresentação de um boi, a torcida contrária deve ficar em completo silêncio.
Galpão: o mesmo que curral.
Garantido: Boi nascido em 1913, da promessa de Lindolfo Monteverde - fundador do Boi; Boi do Povão; Boi cujas cores são vermelha e branca.
Gingado: Bailado com a cadência dois para cá, dois para lá, básico para as toadas do Boi-Bumbá.
Juruna: Tribo do tronco Tupi, habitante do Parque do Xingu.
Juteiro: Agricultor da juta.
Kuarup: Cerimônia indígena realizada quando morre um tuxaua, ou um homem de valor.
Lapada: Meia garrafa de aguardente.
Lendas amazônicas: As lendas amazônicas são parte da apresentação dos bumbás no Festival Folclórico de Parintins. Geralmente baseadas na cultura indígena, as lendas são cantadas e representadas, ilustrando o folclore de um povo.
Mãe Catirina: Também conhecida, esposa de Pai Francisco - figura burlesca da lenda do Bumba Meu Boi.
Marujada: A Marujada de Guerra é o grupo que sustenta o ritmo durante toda a apresentação do Boi-Bumbá Caprichoso, no Festival Folclórico de Parintins, sob o comando e a direção de 2 ou 3 maestros. Um conjunto de músicos que tocam instrumentos de percurssão para acompanhar o Boi durante sua apresentação no Bumbódromo. O nome, Marujada, deriva de um outro brinquedo folclórico da Região Norte do Brasil, os Marujos.
Marujada de Guerra: Nome dado ao conjunto de músicos que acompanha a evolução do Boi Caprichoso.
Morena Bela: garota que acompanha o levantador de toadas do Boi Garantido.
Pai d´égua: Bom sujeito.
Pai Francisco: Marido da Mãe Catirina, e é um empregado da fazenda. Com medo do filho não nascer com saúde, satisfaz o desejo da esposa grávida, que é comer língua de boi, matando um dos bois de seu amo.
Pajé: Chefe espiritual das tribos indígenas; autoridade máxima; conhecedor dos encantamentos místicos utilizados para expulsar maus espíritos (cantos, rituais, medicamentos preparados com ervas, raízes, sementes etc); um misto de sacerdote, médico, curandeiro e feiticeiro. Responsável pela introdução de algumas drogas na farmacopéia moderna. Capaz de manipular venenos, narcóticos, sedativos e estimulantes. No Festival de Parintins, durante a evolução do Bumbá, o Pajé é o índio feiticeiro, uma das figuras mais importantes da apresentação - figura central no ritual do boi -, que por meio da pajelança, conjunto de danças e invocação de espíritos, encontra a receita para a cura.
Palminha: Dois pedaços de madeira em forma retangular usados como instrumento para marcar o ritmo das toadas.
Parintins: Município do estado do Amazonas, próximo da divisa com o Estado do Pará. Localizado na Ilha Tupinambarana, acessível somente por barco ou avião.
Parintintin: indígena do grupo parintintins.
Parintintins: Grupo indígena do sudeste do Amazonas, entre os rios Madeira e Marmelos.
Pávulo: Termo utilizado pela população de Parintins para designar uma pessoa esnobe. Gíria: metido, fanfarrão.
Perreché: Qualidade de uma pessoa que não é recomendável; pessoa inconveniente. Na gíria: "Caboclo do pé rachado".
Popear: Remar na popa da canoa.
Porantim: Peça de madeira semelhante a uma clave, com desenhos significativos para os povos das tribos Sateré-Maué, que se referem a ele como sua Constituição, seu legislador, sua Bíblia. São lhe atribuídos poderes mágicos, religiosos e místicos.
Porta-Estandarte: Uma indía que carrega o símbolo do Boi, movimentando-se com graciosidade, enaltecendo o estandarte que leva consigo.
Putiranga: Interjeição que expressa admiração ou espanto, particular da região.
QG: Quartel General, cada um dos lovais onde se reunem os Bumbás, isto é, Garantido e Caprichoso - cada qual tem o seu QG. Lá se encontram as diretorias, as torcidas e também onde são confeccionadas as alegorias e fantasias.
Remanso: O movimento de ondulação das águas.
Ritual: Cerimônia conduzida pelo Pajé, é o ponto mais esperado da apresentação quando fogos de artifício e efeitos luminosos irrompem no Festival. Geralmente, apagam-se as luzes do bumbódromo enquanto os participantes, que assistem o espetáculo, acendem candeias - pequenas luzes - proporcionando um espetáculo à parte. Originalmente, o objetivo era ressuscitar o Boi morto. Na temática indígena do Festival de Parintins, este é o momento que o Pajé luta contra as forças do mal.
São João: Santo que batizou Jesus Cristo. É o santo escolhido pelos criadores dos Bois de Parintins quando fizeram suas promessas.
São José: Foi casado com Maria, mãe de Jesus Cristo.
São José Operário: Nome do bairro onde o Boi Garantido foi fundado.
Sinhazinha da fazenda: A filha do Amo, dono da fazenda. A moça bonita, considerada o mimo da casa, é uma das figuras tradicionais do Boi bumbá e sempre um dos destaques da evolução. A coreografia inclui um movimento em que ela coloca as mãos sob o rosto, espalmadas para baixo, dando-lhe extrema graciosidade.
Tacacá: Comida típica, feita com tapioca (a goma da mandioca), camarão, pimenta malagueta, tucupi (variedade de peixe).
Tambaqui: Peixe da bacia amazônica, muito apreciado na culinária.
Tarrafa: Rede de pesca artesanal.
Tique: Tenso.
Toada: Canção popular. Música cantada durante a apresentação dos Bois.
Tribo: No Festival de Parintins as tribos devem representar índios nativos da Amazônia, com vestimentas, coreografias e movimentos originais e fiéis às suas raízes.
Tripa do boi: Brincante que veste o boi de pano e faz a evolução do bumbá; pessoa que brinca em baixo do boi, responsável pelos movimentos durante a apresentação.
Tucandeira: Conhecida como tocandira (Paraponera clavata), formiga da região Amazônica, carnívora, agressiva, dotada de grandes ferrões e chega a medir 22mm. A picada provoca forte dor durante um período de aproximadamente 12 horas. Algumas tribos testam a valentia dos jovens submetendo-os à picada da tocandira. Após este ritual de iniciação sexual, estão aptos para o casamento.
Tucumã: Fruto do tucumãzeiro, abundante na região do médio Rio Amazonas.
Tupã: Trovão, em tupi-guarani. Palavra sem representação divina até que os Jesuítas, na época da catequisação, adotaram-na para representar a idéia uma divindade suprema, o Deus Cristão. Deus do Bem, no lendário indígena. De acordo com algumas fontes, "espírito cruel do trovão". O antigo sentido desta palavra foi escolhido pelos Jesuítas do século XVI para nomear o Deus cristão aos índios convertidos.
Tupinambarana: Ilha no Amazonas (Parintins); índío pertencente ao grupo dos tupinambás que migrou para a ilha Tupinambarana.
Tupinambás: grupo indígena, hoje considerado extinto, da família linguística tupi-guarani.
Tupi: Indígena de qualquer dos grupos tupis.
Tuxáua: Chefe guerreiro de uma tribo; É destaque durante o Festival de Parintins, representando o chefe de uma tribo. Seus trajes são compostos por cocares, simbolizando a sabedoria.
Uirapuru: Pássaro típico da região amazônica com um canto exuberante e de grande beleza, que contribuiu para incluí-lo na lenda do folclore nortista, como sendo portador de boa sorte.
Vaqueiro: Personagem do boi-bumbá, que vai festejar o boi. Representa o peão da fazenda.
Vaquejada ou vaqueirada: Conjunto vaqueiros que dançam em volta do boi. Trazem o boi no início e se apresentam novamente na despedida do boi, ao final do espetáculo.
Vermelho: Cor do Boi Garantido e nome da música de Chico da Silva que ficou famosa em todo o Brasil, quando os bois passaram a ser conhecidos nacionalmente, em 1996.
Vitória Amazônica: Vitória Régia, planta aquática típica da região amazônica, pode atingir 2,5m em diametro.
Voadeira: barco veloz com motor de popa.
Xamã: O feiticeiro da tribo, o pajé.
Xingu: Rio que nasce no estado do Mato Grosso e corre em direção ao norte, atravessando os estados de Mato Grosso e do Pará desaguando no Amazonas. Apesar da profundidade favorável não é completamente navegável devido à muitas cachoeiras.

Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.
